because its not american football. they do not stop after every play and they do not have time outs. god most of the pitch was in shade anyway and brazil, argentina etc have to put up with that sort of heat all the time.

    Sorry - dont follow

"because its not american football. they do not stop after every play and they do not have time outs."

what on earth has that got to do with it. It wasnt golf either

No one was suggesting that he stopped the game - he wouldnt let players have a drink when the game was stopped already which was just being plain attention seeking.

The ref in the game just finished didnt have any problems letting players have a drink and it was presumably cooler

Apart from it's in North America and they play in CONCACAF (which is North and Central America) qualifying region and not with the South American teams.

    Except that geographically

Mexico is located on the CENTRAL american isthmus.

So Mexico is a central american country irrespective of which association they play within.

ie neither north nor south yet culturally closer to the south I would contend.

    RE: Except that geographically

The Central America isthmus starts in Southern Mexico - depending upone your source they are either geographically in North or Central America - I've seen plenty that states it is part of North America.

So some! of it is open to interpretation

How much does a 2500 mile wide continent need to narrow to constitute an isthmus?

I would have said with certainty that Mexico City is in Central America.

    what about culturally?

More in common with south america.

They only play footy with north america due to the large number of good south american teams and the opposite northwards ie two rubbish ones.

South American countries are about as friendly with each other as European ones. Don't think there's really any favouritism there.

play had stopped but more people who go over. the longer it takes for the game to restart and positions to be retaken.
