England play in red and white
Scotland play in Blue and white
Ireland play in Green
France Play in blue red and white
Spain play in red
Portugal play in that mucky colour thats on their flag
Yet Italy play in blue

every country i can think of takes the colour of their shirt from their flag. yet italy are dodgy daves.
Nicked from another site The Italian national team wear blue because it is the colour of Savoia, the ruling house of Italy from 1861 to 1946. Until the end of the second world war, the Italian flag always had the Savoy coat of arms in the centre, and it was only after the family were overthrown,and the Italian Republic established in 1946, that the plain tricolor was adopted as the national flag
I've always wondered why England play in navy blue shorts. Our national colours ars white and red - and that's what our kit shouyld be.
to match the navy blue of the FA badge. And as you know the idiots at the FA couldnt have used their brains and come up with a red badge.
RE: to match the navy blue of the FA badge. plus i think it looks better with navy shorts-having red ones would makes us look like poland or someone similar
RE: why does japan play in blue then??? why do australia play in yellow why do Ghana play in white? i'd ask why holland play in orange, but i know that already...
Australia wear yellow and green to represent the golden wattle which is their national flower (or something along those lines)
[img=http://www.anbg.gov.au/emblems/Aus-trans.gif]

Just google it,here you go.......... http://football.guardian.co.uk/theknowledge/story/0,13854,1265307,00.html
RE: Just google it,here you go.......... don't have to goole it i know it! Holland play in orange as it's the historic national colour of the Netherlands, originating from the coat of arms of the Dutch founding father William of Orange-Nassau. The top (red) band of the current flag was originally orange. The current Dutch away shirt incorporates the flag colours as a diagonal stripe. so there!!!
Commentator on A1 Grand Prix last year You may or may not know but the A1 Grand Prix (not actually raced on the A1 so **** knows what the name is about) teams are by nation and each car's livery is in the colours of that country. 1st race last season the commentator said "Italy only signed contracts in time to race which probably explains why they've not had chance to put their livery on their cars and they are blue"! ff
