I hope not. I didnt hear the GS interview but it doesnt surprise me from what I've heard previously about things. I am a fan of AR but even I have to be honest and say that the league table doesnt lie and we are where we are because we are'nt good enough to be higher. All of us have known since the summer that we needed to get players in. I appluad AR's loyalty to his team but being a football manager is'nt about winning popularity contests it's about winning football games. I dont normally agree with anything coming out of the sty at swillsboro but the one thing their chairman said that I agree with was this. Our previous manager wasnt winning games, he was popular but he has gone and now we are winning....cant argue with the facts really. After all the anger at Sturrocks departure the standin manager wins games and the new manager brings in an experienced keeper virtually on dayone and keeps the winning run going. We have been looking for a keeper for yonks ????? I guess all I am saying is that although we need stability we also desperatly need to stay up and as it stands we wont. How a manager can sit a potential goal scorer on the bench week in and week out even if he is a lazy player beats me, especially when your strike force couldnt score if the other team didnt turn up. Give hime a go for 7 or 8 games in a run and see what he can do to help. Anyway I have a strange feeling we will now see either a few players in very quickly or sadly a new manager just as quick. Sad times but always a red no matter who the gaffer is. AR
Nobody dislikes AR as a man, but you're right, we're 2nd bottom, never look like scoring although chances are being created, his blind faith in our current strike force is laughable, ignoring Nardiello and his ineptitude in the loan/transfer market, all these things have conspired against AR not his chairman or us supporters.
" ineptitude in the loan/transfer market" I'm intrigued! Could you explain more?? What should he be using?? Hypnotism?? Rohypnol?
RE: " ineptitude in the loan/transfer market" AR: 'Hello Player A, do you fancy coming to play for Barnsley? </p> Player A: 'Hmmm, not sure, Andy - sell it to me.'</p> AR: 'Well, it's a smashing club, nice ground, terrific academy set-up, decent crowds. You could be the key to turning our season round.'</p> Player A: 'No, sod all that guff, how much are you paying?'</p> AR: 'Ah, right, er.....£**.*** a week plus bonuses'</p> Player A: 'And what about wages?'</p> AR: 'Those are your wages!'</p> Player A: '**** off, thee' </p>
RE: " ineptitude in the loan/transfer market" I would just ask a couple of questions . Since August there have been no players that are more experienced / better than ale house league that are in need of wages of any level to pay the mortgage ?? In the whole of the UK market there were no experienced keepers available as cover who would come here. I feel sure that there were deals to be done and that a stronger manager would have chased a lot harder...ok Laws is no Fergie but he identified a weakness and had a keeper in within a day ??? I'm not suggesting AR should turn into Arthur Daley but anyone in sales knows there is usually a way to a deal but you have to work at it. Take some serious talent on board and agree to play it in the first team if the loaning club will stump up a big chunk of wages etc if thats what it takes. If AR had brought players in and they hadnt worked I would bet he would get less stick for trying that than no one coming in at all. They need to sort this all out and get the thing back to playing and winning and not a who said what and to whom situation. Balled off now BT
I think that is the whole point. No phone calls are being made, no offers of playing contracts, just an apparent lack of interest, and an unacceptably high degree of loyalty to the incumbent playing squad. Or did you miss GS's comments yesterday? It's all well and good despairing at BFC's lack of purchase power in what is in reality, the greatest ever buyers' market. I simply don't believe there aren't valuable squad additions out there that are just being ignored with the apparent agenda being reliance at all costs with the squad we have. The most frustrating thing for me if we don't survive this year, will be that we honestly only needed two or three players to be at least holding our own, if not thriving, at this level.
I think he will see out his contract bout 8 months left and then go Shepps will then save money for compo for him.
