    SIMON Davey looks set to be able to name SEVEN substitutes for Carling Cup matches next season under new proposals due to be ratified by the Football League this summer.</p>

    From the start of the 2008/2009 campaign managers in the Premier League will be able to name seven substitutes on the bench for games and now the Football League is set to follow suit.</p>

    The new rule, which is poised to be ratified at the forthcoming Football League AGM, would only apply to the Carling Cup 2008/2009 and would be on a trial basis.</p></div>
