So often teams in our position who have sacked their manager, have picked up and got out of trouble. Some of these clubs have promoted from within (temporarily or otherwise) and some have brought 'outsiders' in. IMO we have players in our squad who are simply not good enough at this level that have been given far more game time and tolerance than say promising youngsters and more seasoned pros who have done little wrong. What i'm getting at is, Flitcroft will need to do things a lot different from what Hill did, but will he? I certainly hope so.
Could go either way. Perhaps the fact that he's accepted the caretaker job - I was expecting him to head back to Lancashire in Keith's car - suggests that he thinks he could have done better with the players we have? Not sure if this is a common view, but I think we've got the players to stay up. It'll be interesting to see the lineup he picks.
I'm sorry but IMHO he's part of the problem not part of the solution. He's a Hill man through and through, has been responsible for the coaching of the current shambles and has led the team before in Hill's absence on t'club. Having said all that I really like Flicker the person and I sincerely hope he proves me wrong.
I think there is a certain amount of dependence that the initial rush will at least claw back the deficit.
Viv Anderson > Danny Wilson Doesn't follow that there is continuation of ideas. Keith will have wanted to play a certain way and Flitcroft will have been the man to carry those orders out. How much he agreed with Hill and how much of the ideas he had input into is speculation.
Kh and DF came as a package ,2 best mates who have been a partnership for a while , seemingly signing off the same hymn sheet for a good few years... Wilson and Anderson were thrown together on a whim. major major difference. the who idea of sacking keith hill and then asking flitcroft to take the team 3 days later is farcical and could only happen at barnsley.... another one for the don.
It still doesn't follow that Flitcroft will do things the same way. In fact if he fancies the job or staying in work he'd be stupid to do so.
We'll see what he trots out at Peterborough and how it lines up. It will be quite telling. If he picks the Rochdale lads I would personally like to weigh his balls because I bet they're massive.
He wouldn't be the first no2 to have slightly different ideas from the manager, that being said if Keef drops a decent job theres every chance he would fk off n join im
None of us know for sure. I'm concerned it will be more of the same though. When we've promoted from within before (Hunter, Wilson, Ritchie) they've been their own men with their own ideas. Hill and Flitcroft have gone out of their way to stress they are a team with the same way of doing things. Meet the new boss, exactly the same as the old boss.
Anyhow it's easy to sort out cos I have read it on here. Drop Wiseman and play 2 wide men for crosses. Club should appoint the bbs as gaffer.
I think it depends if he sees himself as a contender for the job. In which case you would select Scott Wiseman at you peril. It is hard to fathom where his loyalties and motivations lie. He might try and invite dismissal, though I believe his professional integrity will prevail.
