    Anyone heard anything?

I have a horrible feeling we willl lose one of either, Mowatt, Styles or Woodrow this window.
Sure we will have incoming, but can see someone being sold who we don't want to be sold.

If i was a player at Barnsley with a new contract offer as well as personal terms i would be looking for assurances of ambition. We haven't had a better opportunity to finish well in this division for ages and the last time we did we completely and utterly dismantled the team. So if we look to strengthen and get the personal offer right i think he will stay.

Mowatt is the only one I can see being sold in this window. However, I can also see him signing a year's extension too.

I think if he was going to stay he would have signed by now, he should just remember that the grass ain't always greener elsewhere as quite a few have found out

Must admit it doesn't seem like.he's going to sign. Really hope I'm wrong. But whether he signs of not I don't see why we need to weaken now by selling him.

If he was going to sign he'd have signed ages ago. We need to sell him this month as it would be bad business sense to lose a regular starter for nothing.

Haha. I've not made my point very clear.

I don't think we'll sell anyone, however if we do, I think it'll be Mowatt because he's unwilling to sign a new deal. I can't see us getting through the window without his future being decided.

But I don't think we'll sell Woodrow or Styles.

I think the difference is this time around (barring the ownership), is we had a number of key players in the final 6 months of their contract at that time. None of them were willing to sign a new deal, despite where we were in the league back then.

At least this time, the only key player in the final year of their contract is Mowatt. I also think we're better placed to deal with his departure too. There's Styles, Palmer and Kane all ready to step in, should Mowatt leave.

In all seriousness, if Mowatt is not going to sign a new deal we should look to sell him if we can. Not at any price of course but if anyone gives us a sensible offer we would be mad not to take it. It would be a shame but he isn’t irreplaceable especially if we can keep Matty James. I’m not sure that there will be many bids though. There isn’t much cash about this season and he is no Conor Hourihane. For many championship sides he would only be a squad player. We may well find we can’t sell him for more than a few coppers in which case we may as well keep him and let Luton have him next season

For the money we would get with a few months on contract left id just keep him n let him go for free in the summer if he wont sign. If we end up finishing around play offs he may sogn again in summer?

I agree, we didn't make too much of an effort to get the players signed up early enough. Maybe lets see where we get with Mowatt and how well we keep others through the window. Clearly i expect bring players to go on loan and maybe even leave but hopefully we will look a stronger squad by Feb.

From what I remember, offers were made to Hourihane, Winnall etc well in advance, but weren't (understandably) anywhere near the offers made by Villa and Wednesday. I think the current ownership have made headway in ensuring players are tied down to new deals sooner. Woodrow, Styles, Brown, Simoes and Williams are the names off the top of my head, who I recall signing new deals whilst having at least 6 months left on their current deal.

I'm more concerned with the players coming in. We need to ensure we address the issues we have in the squad, and not focus solely on layering for the future, like often seems to be the case.

About sums it up, if we sell anyone or not will be down to the size of (if any) offers made.
I expect any reasonable offer for any of our players to be accepted, this is as far as I am aware out transfer policy.

He could easily pick up 15k a week if he joined the likes of Derby, Middlesbrough, Swansea etc. We only pay half that amount tops. We either need to flog him now or pay him what he's worth.

Could it be that he’s played his last game for us?

Maybe although think we would need an offer of a million to a couple of million based on past history. Clubs aren’t exactly flush with cash at present !
