It's well known that he's been looking to sell for a long while, but he's only willing to do it if it's the right deal for the club - ie someone with enough cash to take us forwards coupled with having the club's best interests at heart. As you can probably imagine, such people are in rather short supply.
IMHO, He doesn't need to sell up lock stock and barrel, just perhaps try and firm a larger board that can help him take the club forward.
That's also an option, though the problem is the same - where to find such people. I'm pretty sure that if the right people were to come forward, Cryne would be delighted to make way for them.
That's the problem right there. You can't expect to wait for someone to come knocking. We don't appear to be pro active in trying to sell the club. If someone did want to buy it I think they would be put off that the club has no assets, but i'm sure Patrick would cut them a good deal.
But if you have to go asking people, there's a real risk that the club will fall into the wrong hands. If there were any BFC fans with the financial means to develop the club, and the will to put in the time and money then I'm sure they'd have made themselves known a long while back. The thing is, the amount of money that is needed is phenomenal. Some of my clients here are what I would consider to be ludicrously wealthy, yet none of them even get near to Cryne in terms of assets. And Cryne is relative small fry compared with some of the people involved in British football. There are just not very many people full stop who have the amount of money required (and I'd hazard a guess that the amount who live in Barnsley is not great!), regardless of whether or not they'd actually be interested in buying BFC.
What is the position regarding Cryne's court appearance? The last I heard he was supposed to be at court last September.
