how much time do you lot give the new manager to fix the poor Davey organisation? We know PC is patient and will offer time
Good question Would we have been as patient as Donny were with ODriscoll when he went on a long run of losing? I doubt it very much.
Personally I will give him 10 minutes into the 1st match. If we aren't at leat 2 up, I'm wanting him out.
RE: Personally I will give him Being the Barnsley manager is a lot like being Prime Minister. Whatever you do its wrong and *****.
Ten minutes into the first match? That's pathetic. I'm giving hime five minutes after his appointment is announced, and if we're not top six I'm organising a demo.
We have to back the new man unconditionallly and give him a warm welcome ...end of the day it is Simon Davey that has buried us at the bottom of the division. He has given us a mountain to climb and the close season/transfer window has been wasted. The new manager ought to get our full support and backing, and should be given the time it needs to reverse the mess that we're in. It's not going to be plain sailing from here - I'd expect quite the opposite. Survival is the key this season and we'll all have to roll with the ups and downs, and most importantly stay behind the new man.
RE: We have to back the new man unconditionallly and give him a warm welcome But the majority seemed to think there wasn't much wrong with most of the players, just the manager's tactics.
Let's face it... We have got some good players - but anyone who thinks it's just going to be a magic wand job it off their heads. We have a shocking defence - it really is that bad back there. As long as the back four are shakey we are really going to struggle, because we're probably going to be alright going forwards (we have a decent selection of strikers and some good wingers, and some talent in the middle of the park) BUT we're not going to be stuffing goals past people. So long as we're leaking one or two goals per game (sometimes more, we are vulnerable) we're going to have a real mountain to climb. It's not just about reorganisation at the back - it's about wholesale change. Moore was a fine player - but I think we got the last season out of him last year, his legs are shot. We haven't got another proper centrehalf, Kozluk is awful, Foster is the only man I think is genuinely good enough and Bobby Hassell is good enough if he performs consistently. We have a lot of work to do. I can't believe that Davey got so distracted from that, considering his tactics were so defensive. As far as getting them all playing like a team together - who knows how long that could take? There is a mountain to climb now - make no mistake - and survival this season is the most important thing. At least with a good manager involved we can look to build and get better in years 2 and 3 - rather than swimming round and round in circles with Simon Davey chopping and changing one minute to the next.
Didn't Moore get "written off" at this time last season? We know for a fact that he is playing with an injury - so what makes you think he's finished at this level?
I'd forgotten about him Nailed on certainty to be caretaker. Then who knows, if he gets some results. Not advocating it, just expecting it to repeat the Ritchie and Davey appointments.
RE: Didn't Moore get "written off" at this time last season? correct, but he is a year older. He need to be given a chance to recover from injury and then a proper decision can be made.
RE: Didn't Moore get "written off" at this time last season? At the moment we are running him into the ground. He's another year old, and as you say, he is clearly injured. He needs time off to recuperate at the very least. He's certainly not someone to build the back four around long term. Even if we got until the end of the season out of him - how much longer then? At his age can we expect him to recover completely from the injuries he is now carrying? I think he's a fantastic bloke and he did a great job last year - but we have to be realistic.
