My Wife's from Barnsley and she's not going, shame on her

Even though she hates football poor excuse. Same with the kids as well. its their fault if the club can't compete or go under.

Not so much a shock - more of a pleasant surprise. It would be even more of a pleasant surprise if we could sustain some of that for the Palace game.

It will be similar to last season.. because the price is similar. But if it had been 30 sheckels we wouldnt have got near 10,000. So if the gates DOES total around 12,500, then cheaper pricing WORKS.
I have to say though, that we ought to be getting 15,000 for a derby but clubs have p*ssed supporters off with their demands of late, and many have now turned their backs on the game

Have there been any adverts on Dearne fm saying how cheap it is tomorrow? Or any advertising at all? i dont live in Barnsley so I dont know, I assume there will be a write up in Chronicle and it will be mentioned, but have the club put a big advert in?
If not why not, why not actually tell people about things instaed of just thinking that if people want to come they will come.
That is a **** poor way to run a business. Got to get the name of BFC out there and be seen, let the kids know at school, get the apprenticesd out in town giving flyers out instead of leaving it up to the fans that already go.
****e PR has been for years and will carry on like it, because of the stick in the mud mentality that pervades the club.

Let's blame the club again. Don't people have any responsibility to look at the website (for nowt), come on here (for nowt) or read the chron (75p) and find out what's going on. It's hardly a secret we have a home game tomorrow and if people
are as bothered as we like to think they are then they would be finding this
    information for themselves.

How can someone come on here to look or the official site to look if they don't have the internet? Not all our fans do. How they expected to get a Chronicle if they live in the surrounding area like Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Sheffield, Doncaster etc? Why is it up to people to put in the effort to part with their own money? Shouldn't be the job of the club to go get the money from people with better advertising?

You see, attitudes like that are what has held the club back.

Why not try and entice some one into OAKWELL, nay we will just wait and see if anyone knows its a cheap match, maybe someone will tell them, its not our fault its everyone elses FFS!!!
People with attitudes like yours are killing the club, not the other way around.

I agree with Mark, all I've seen about the £23 price advertised is on internet. Not seen it in local clubs/pubs etc! And they want US to advertise it, isnt that down to the club to?

What percentage of fans don't have access to the Internet these days?

Assuming there many Barnsley fans in Halifax and Bradford (which I don't think there are) how do you suggest the club reaches them? They aren't going to put an advert in the Bradford Argus that's for sure.

I have no idea what wrestling events are on because I don't give a **** as I think it's a load of tripe. If I was interested (god help me) I'd go out of my way to find out what was on and where. Same principle.

Tell you what, if there was a wrestling event on in town there would be advertising all over, because the know the value of it. If you dont let people know, they will not come.
Anyway I am not saying anymore on the matter. You have made your mind up and will not accept any other point of view.

I'm not going cos I'm off to bell-end road instead.

I do however have a season ticket, will my attendance still count? I'll feel guilty otherwise

do u really think it makes business sense for the club to pay for adverts in other yorkshire local newspapers who all have different teams in their catchment when the people of barnsley are not going to games?
For me the way to start and get 'stay aways' back to oakwell is to start with the christmas offer of 3games for £60 inc 1912 membership card, then @ the boxing day game annoucing that all games will be £20 for 1912 holders. £20 is about right for a pay on the day ticket. I suspect travelling barnsley fans would accept £20 for every away game.
Everyone i speak to about matchday tickets say im n ot paying £30 but were ok with paying £25 last year for cat A games.
After leeds and donny at home their is no reason for any fixture at oakwell to be a Cat A game.
We need to get the people of barnsley interested in going to games again before we start spending money in other teams catchment areas and i know alot of people dont support their local clubs but in theroy it should be easier to get locals to oakwell then people who are further away.
