and take retrospective action against Blackpool for the Flares/smoke bombs that went off in the Away end when we played there? All this talk of us being punished for the idiots that let these off makes it sound like it's just us. I see flares/smoke bombs being let off every week on the TV and not once have I heard of any punishment being dished out. All I'm saying is why should we be made a scapegoat for this. As for the throwing of objects at players or anyone else, well perhaps a few lashes of the cat 'o' nine tails might not go amiss. We're not bad fans at Oakwell and it's not an intimidating ground to visit by any means.
People got hurt today and that is unacceptable at a football match. If we get punished then the club, the useless stewards and police as well as the idiots who threw the smoke bombs are wholly to blame.
Er, no. The only people to blame were the numpties throwing the flares. The club will get fined though. And then there's the idiots throwing things at MacPhail when he was taking the corner. How could you ever justify that? Do they think they are supporting the club when they do stuff like that? They need to grow up.
Yes the idiots are to blame but when the police and stewards turn a blind eye it just gives the idiots license to continue behaving like morons. The stewards knew exactly who threw the lighters at McPhail and did nothing and the police apparently just watched while the flares were thrown. They are paid to deal with these incidents and make sure the venue is as safe as possible but today they failed. They may not be to blame directly but they certainly didn't do a great deal to intervene.
what were the stewards doing... thats my question for me the safety and security of the spectators is their job, its them who have failed. Not the club. The club employ/hire them to do that job, so its them who should be taken to account.
Re: what were the stewards doing... thats my question Nothing will happen, you get smoke bombs at pretty much every game at the minute and people are just jumping on the 'No pyro no party' bandwagon...it's just a phase that will pass. If we were punished in any way for this then it would be a f**king joke.
