If so, what position would you prioritise?

I'd certainly like to see a couple of signings

A big centre half and a target man would be my personal choice . However , I can't remember the last time we made a deadline day signing , so I'd be surprised if we pick anyone up this week .

Is'nt there only two days left in the window? after that when does the window re-open and what problems do you anticipate should no signings take place? I never thought that I would be saying this but, I just hope he does'nt sign a c.h. but instead throws young Atkinson into the Deepend.I take the point of many of the posters on here concerning the need for more experienced players but in Atkinsons case I would be tempted to blood him now.

    Would suit me if......

Would suit me if we got 2........a centre half and a striker
I think we'd be laughing if we got 3 .........a centre half and 2 strikers
And I think we would be doing cart wheels if we got 4.......2 centre halves and 2 strikers
We may get near the top 6 or even in the top 6 if we got 4 players in those positions
Now this dosen't mean I want to get rid of the players we have already in those positions
But we need cover and more competition in those areas

    Midnight Thursday for permanent transfers

It may well be that Andy Ritchie has faith is some of the young lads to come in and do a job for us , eg Atkinson , Heslop , Jarman , Laight . I think that a couple of quality players coming in would give everyone a lift . Whether the players that the manager wants are within the financial constraints ( assuming the player wants to come to Barnsley , too ) is the main question .

RE: Centre Half and maybe Left Back

Left back and central defender! Unless Atkinson is ready we need cover so that we do not have to reshuffle the defence whenever Kay or Reid are unavailable! The fact that Atkinson was an unused sub on a day when CH was sent off does not give me the impression that Richie is fully confident in him. Is this the reason why he chose to use the tactics that he did at the weekend rather than bring him on as a straight swap!

instead of 4 centres halves - we could just get 2 centre wholes

    it would save on wages
