I don’t get this. People I know have ago at Tinkler, Chettle and Dyer. One thing, where we not challenging for promotion when they played for us? Just hate people criticising players who where no doubt part of the squad in maybe one of our greatest ever seasons when we got to the play of final. Fair do’s Gibbs and Milligan where not good enough though and I just don’t remember Flynn.
Chettle once took a penalty that landed in the seat in front of me. Sat in North Stand, during the playoff season, abart 20 rows back. WHACK. Ball lands row in front, i should have volleyed it back. Happy memories from that season though, notably putting 5 past Blackburn by half time.
Mike Flynn, carthorse of a defender. Think we sent him to Stockport, and he was our club captain! also what about Keith Curle or Tom Williams at CB and LB
RE: Chettle once took a penalty that landed in the seat in front of me. I remember him missing the same goal with a penalty, he hitit hard and low, unfortunately quite wide too!as Rankin was was brought down when he was clean through, I remember thinkingwhy bother bringing him down? He couldn't hit a barn door anyway.
RE: keith brown How did he get to start the match at Wembley is beyond me, just re-inforced my views on Bassett (asshole)
So who could name the best ever f**k up 11? Mannone Crooks, Brown, Morgan, Gibbs McParland, McClare, Crooks, Robbie Williams Dave Regis, Richard Naylor Can anyone do any better, people like Robbie Williams and McParland are only there due to not been able to think of anyone else.
I don’t really remember Flynn but remember Morgan making a few gaffes. Mainly stupid challenges to concede penalties. I see he’s gave away a good few stupid ones this season as well. And again when on the spot I couldn’t think of anyone else while I was typing.
Morgan - lol Central defenders who should be in before Morgan: O'Callaghan Brown Souza Chettle Appleby Flynn Reid Kay Curle And thats off the top of my head
Much as I love a comedy moment sure big Kev Miller if only for missing Mogs back pass on Sky one Sundi afternoon. Lovely bloke and we still have the signed gloves from Wembley but he did keep goal in a deck chair wi pipe, slippers and the paper on occasions
what I liked most about him was... his unerring ability to stand completely flatfooted and watch a screamer of a shot shave the outside of the post and then calmly retrieve the ball as if he knew it was going to miss all along
