We'll do another one in a month's time after the transfer window (and more games) and see which way we are trending.
I looked at odds other day (pre WBA) and could only get 11/4 for us to stay up. Think the bookies must be on glue.
Never say never. But when my Man City supporting (since the 80s, I think that needs to be said now) colleague asked the same question I used the Toy Story magic 8 ball shaking analogy: don't count on it.
My heart wants to say YES but even in my most optimistic mood, I think survival is only a remote possibility. A cup run would be good though.
Whilst I'm ever the optimist, I can't see any way of us getting out of this. Say we sign the midfield lynch pin and luck out on another McBurnie/Dike type loan in January, you still can't ignore the fact that we've made it to the midpoint of the season with just 2 wins. I honestly think we need half the points still available to have any sort of chance, and even then, that's only around 48 in total. Whilst it's too early still to say whether Asbaghi is the right man for the job, I haven't seen anything yet that suggests he's going to get the 12 wins we require from the last 23 games. The saving grace this season seems to be that, aside from Fulham and Bournemouth, there's no good teams in this division. Blackburn for example are 3rd in the table, and don't look like anything special in the slightest. They're merely the best of the rest. At least the gulf down to league 1 seems to have widened, which is why Rotherham are going to end up absolutely pissing that league. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wycombe come back up, and even Wednesday sneak the play-offs.
thing for me is we've done it before, but only due to immediate transformational change. I just haven't seen that at all. i don't get the sense that the Club's owners are even that worried if we get relegated. there's no sense of urgency at all. if I compare it to the survival under flicker, it's just night and day. I know he lost his way the following season, but for that half season he did what was needed and grabbed things by the scruff of the neck. if that urgency isn't coming from the owner, we're sunk.
Down before the decorations and that’s a real shame I love watching championship football and division 1 will be a tough league. Remember boys and girls there’s some massive clubs down there.
Can we stay up? Yes, if the right additions are made in January and we don’t lose key players. Will we stay up? Not a prayer. We may or may not cash in on whoever we can sell - but regardless, they won’t bring in any experience to help them and our midfield will remain softer than a spring cowpat. We might even finish below Derby.
We need promotion form just to stay up , Schopp should have gone after the Callum Brittain statement about his coaching methods, it wasnt as if we couldn’t see this as well , we all knew the players weren’t fit .when this didn’t happen it sealed our fate imo.
