thats all well and good William but it is not possible. I would be in favour of this European organisation he talks of, but it simply is not the reality the Conservatives have got to get real. For once I agree with the Socialist Labour Party.
how can you agree with him that 'in Europe but not run by Europe' is a realistic proposition? I respect your opinion but I just cannot see how it is at all possible.
Of course it can't work - he knows that but he thinks we're too thick to get it.
The Tories have absolutely no intention of pulling out of Europe, but they also know there's a hell of a lot of people who do want that.
This is just an appeal to those people's stupidity. The arrogant tw@t.

Can't stand any of em mate - never trusted em.
All we have to look forward to is the best of an incredibly bad bunch.

The Tories have finally got it that this country cannot afford to come out of the EU. Perhaps if we'd taken more of a lead in the past rather than being reluctant members we'd have been able to shape it more. Vote Libertas!
same people that said we could not afford not to join the Euro not being in the Euro has been beneficial to the British economy. By allowing the British authorites to control interest rates and allow the pound to depreciate in value to encourage exports. The economic argument does not add up. All the upset about MPs expenses is nothing compared to the blackhole that is EU finances. Take a look at European finances.
I'd go for the Norwegian approach Not in Europe but trade with Europe just as if they were Same for the Swiss Neither of which seem to suffer unduly be not handing over billions every year to be squandered and both seem to have a decent standard of living.
RE: I'd go for the Norwegian approach EXACTLY RIGHT but those who argue against this say that Europe will cut Britain off completely. Stop all trade. What they forget is that the countries in Europe need trade with Britain as much as we need trade with them. I (and UKIP) are in favour of trade with Europe but not the massive structure of undemocratic law law making machines. The European Parliament is completely toothless and is merely a fascade of democracy. I am not a conservative and I am inclined to a slightly left of centre position on most issues. I do not see opposing the undemocratic EU as being 'right wing' as some people paint the issue.
RE: I'd go for the Norwegian approach EXACTLY RIGHT The only time we had a vote on this was in 1970 when we were asked to approve joining what was then EFTA - the European FREE TRADE Area.
Those of us who voted in favour would NEVER have done so if we'd seen where it was leading.

RE: I'd go for the Norwegian approach EXACTLY RIGHT no you're wrong there mate. The Wilson government held a referendum on joinging the EC, (not the EU) which as you say has been transformed into a very different beast.
