Got some legends top trumps today. Pretty good. But one card is Willie Ferry, 4 apps, 1 goal, legend rating 1

    What am I missing?

THE worst player I ever saw playing in a Barnsley shirt. Honestly. Think Mido's weight, and Dagnall's skill and ginger hair (if I remember correctly) and you have it.

    erm...see the name
I'm afraid Monkey has got that pretty much spot on. I saw him (Ipswich debut I think) after Clarke had given him the big build up. I know this BBB has the occassional 'worst ever player to pull on the shirt' type discussion, but Willie really was the man. Incredibly bad. Just to give you an idea: I don't know if you've seen Mido yet but Willie made him look like Rudolph Nureyev (thin Ballet star for you younger ones). Honestly, Stephen Hawking had better ball control.

    To borrow a phrase 'hth'

He is the pi55 take card, he was bloody useless. I was surprised by some of the players included and excluded from the pack and the legend rating scores of some of the players.

Oh and Steve Agnew with hair. I'd forgotten about that.

Played for us during the 1986/87 season.

At the end of which, he was given a free transfer. He then drifted into non-league football. In my opinion, he was the worst player I have ever seen play for Barnsley & I've been going since the 1960's. He was so out of his depth, it was almost cruel to watch. However, most fans realised this and didn't give him much stick that others before and since have had to put up with. Truth be told, in my view, the blame rested with Allan Clarke for selecting him, when it was so obvious Ferry wasn't up to it. The lad gave everything he had, but simply wasn't good enough.

    To put it simply,

Think of the worst player you have ever seen in a Barnsley shirt, then multiply his crapness by 10 , thats Willie Ferry!!!

Only by ten. I think the years have tempered your memory. To be honest I had forgotten about him until today when I looked through the top trump cards and I thought WTF. It all came back to me instantly. Bloody hell we ain't half had some utter gash players down the years.

I didn't start watching us until a couple of seasons later but my mate says pretty much the same- reckons Dave Regis was like Pele in comparison, which I find pretty hard to believe.

That's just reminded me - is Trevor Aylott in the Legends pack? I should hope so and assuming he is, I recall Fired and me had a pack of Top Trumps in the mid-70s that featured Trevor Aylott when he played for Chelsea - he was the "take the pi55 card" as he had no points at all - he could only win on height (6'1" if I recall correctly!). Makes it all the better that he went on to be a Barnsley legend!

Not an awful strike rate though.
