W19 D13 L31 Abysmal by anyone's standards. A loss rate of almost 50%. The berk was pilloried for his appalling record (and rightly do), not really sure why it should be any different for Wilson. 36 of these games have come against league one clubs. Stats don't tell the whole story of course, but there has been very little visible improvement and nothing to make me think we were moving in the right direction. As I said earlier, sad but inevitable.
Agreed. Indefensible stats considering the chunk of games in League One. Plus, although the side has changed in personnel, it still contains a number of more than able players. If Wilson had a clear and visible plan that was simply taking a while to get going, I could have patience. But there clearly was no plan. It was a seemingly desperate and ever-altering search for a successful formation/way of playing/player recruitment type that showed no signs of coming together. The club's long-term re-build doesn't have to be dependent on the manager seeing it through. It has to be dependent on a manager getting it right.
Well the good news is Wilson will never ever be Barnsley manager again. Lets just remember his past achievements with us and leave it at that.
Agreed. Sad but inevitable. I didn't realise it was actually as bad as it was. I'm not sure how anyone can defend that record tbh.
Exactly and that tells me he isn't the problem. I couldn't care less who we appoint now but I'll be willing to bet they'll work under the same conditions as Danny and they'll be gone by the end of next season. I'm sick of it.
Mario, as much as it pains me go say it (and it really does) if the berk was in charge in this division with the fifth biggest budget, we would be in the top six. I am 100 certain.
I can't agree. Danny is a better manager and a better man than the berk will ever be. We are only a couple of wins behind Rochdale and we are in a rebuilding phase. This is a knee jerk decision and one I think we'll regret.
And the track record that got him the job counted for very little. Did he suddenly become a bad manager after leading the Blades to a play off position? I didn't expect much this season. I'd have written it off as a development year except if relegation was a real threat, which I don't think it was, or is. Meh.
