and we're back in the race! If we don't beat Chesterfield then I accept it's over but I think we're still in with a decent shout.
The dreamer in me hasn't given up yet but the realist in me thinks the play-offs are now out of reach.
It was all looking good at half-time yesterday. Colchester look gone. Then like a boxing match, we let the guy up off the floor, and instead of finishing the contest, we let him back up to finish US off.
Absolutely Chef... we are far from out of it we also play Peterboro, Bradford and Rochdale too in our remaining games... and all the Promotion contenders face some of the others too. Its not over by a long chalk yet. We had a Rochdale fan on a wekk or so back and he hinted that the last day could be the decider between us and them as to who gets in the Play- offs... Lady Fate is a cruel and sadistic bitch... I can see it happening that way. It would be a fabulous way to go up though if you think of it, getting the rub over Hilldale to make the Play offs... then getting to Wembley by beating a nearby rival ( Chesterfield or Bradford) and then Winning the Play-off final on a missed penalty by our opponents thus beating the blunts 21 - 20 in a marathon shoot out... romanticism yeah.... but stranger things happen at sea.
Re: Absolutely Chef... we are far from out of it The situation you have described is all but impossible to envisage in reality. For us to even play Bradford or Chesterfield in the semis would mean one of us has to finish 3rd or 4th. Given that we are 14 behind Swindon in 4th with 15 to play for, its not going to be us. Realistically, can you see Chesterfield catching Swindon, who are 7 clear of Chesterfield with 3 games in hand. Even if that were to happen, for us to then beat sheffield Utd in the final would mean they finished in the top 6 as well as us and either Chesterfield or Bradford, i.e. which means either Swindon or MK Dons dropping out of the top 6 altogether when both are at least 11 points clear of 7th. Sorry, nice fantasy, but its a fantasy!
