Another poor start to a season, players and fans dejected, anger directed to the board. This should be no surprise to fans or the board as the the conveyor belt of frustration continues. In terms of the model its a long time since we developed and sold a player for profit now. When will owners realise that to invest in young potential is one thing but to reach that potential is another. It is not all about playing time. To develop these young players need to play alongside experience, be well coached and confidence. It is very clear current squad is short of experience, championship quality, and natural leaders within squad. As we saw last term, it only takes 3-4 additions to this squad to make a huge impact. Val was a good fit and got best out of every player, playing effective style of play, and instilling players with confidence. Based on previous seasons I fully expect us to recruit late on, and pick up some form. But will be a tough ask for us to survive given start to the season, I doubt it. But being a Barnsley fan I am prepared for the highs and lows. Just hope we retain likes of Morris, Collins, Helik and Mads. With additions coming in sooner rather than later. Also. Players and manager no blameless here. Still trying to understand why (left back) Vita played on right wing and (right wing back) Brittan on the left yesterday. Both struggled in my opinion because they are predominantly one footed and caught on wrong side. Also Vita in attack, dont get it!? Anyway, unbeaten in 2022! 5 goals scored and goal difference +1! And still in the FA Cup.... onwards and upwards.
