Enjoyed the game today though disappointed obviously with the result. Saw all of our strengths and weaknesses in 90 minutes. I remain optimistic. We just didn't do enough things well enough for long enough. First 44 minutes was a solid away performance with a class finish from Cole. Midfield pressured Peterborough really well most of the half, though they had chances too - shot hit the post and Turbull making a great tackle well outside his area. But our achilles heel again of giving the ball away cheaply killed us. We have had spells in most of the games I've seen where we do it, all over the park, and it happening on the edge of our own area today saw us punished. Second half, they upped their game, made the extra man in midfield count and we sat deeper and deeper, the exact opposite of what we did pretty well for the first 44 mins. Never really kept hold of the ball. Don't know whether its down to a confidence thing, especially with whst led to the equaliser, but Berry and maybe Hourihane apart, nobody wanted to try and build attacks, we regularly hit passes to nobody. Thought the sending off was a bit harsh, but once booked for the first challenge, Bailey was at risk with a challenge like that. That said, their central defenders got away with lunges and aerial challenges with no attempt to get the ball for the whole game, particularly on Winnall. Centre halves played really well, but I thought Berry was excellent today. Rarely wasted a pass and won a fair amount of headers too but had little support in midfield. Credit Peterborough, in the second half they did a job on us. But for all their pressure, it took a top drawer strike to beat us.
