And we still need 3 points at Burton Saturday to keep play off hopes alive...... 1100 or so reds fans spurring us on Saturday so we've every chance the way Burton have been playing lately!
Weird that for all its ups and downs this season will probably end up like the last with us not being quite good enough/consistent enough to break into the play offs. Still I suppose the season is a microcosm of what being a Barnsley fan is all about despair, fleeting success then overall mediocrity. Plus ca change
i don't think it's a case of choking. to get as many points as we have since december, is phenomenal. it's automatic form, never mind play off form. it still won't be good enough though, given our awful start. definitely reasons to be positive about next season though, with hecky at the helm. i think we'll have a rebuild on our hands, but i'm confident that's probably already started. every faith in a top 6 finish next year.
Forget talk of top 6 then I fear. Unless we get very lucky with recruitment. Defence should be pretty solid still but basically would have nowt left!
i trust hecky to identify the right players. we'll be reyt. recruitment will be key again though. if we **** about like we did last year, we'll be in the same boat and scuppered by christmas
they did this year to be fair. hammill joined, then fletcher, isgrove & brownhill were basically an instant success. no gelling needed there..
I'm fairly sure Mansford will be working on two recruitment plans; promotion or L1. I had my doubts when he first came in but hopefully the fact we now have so many players who teams will want, at decent money, shows we've improved our recruitment. I reckon we'll keep some of them, and replace any we do sell with some more up and coming talent. Hopefully loans next year will be used on experienced pros to see us out of the league. Given the changes to emergency loans we won't be able to gamble on "talent" loans who may or may not work out.
If we can't hang on to all of those above given we are one of the supposed better teams in the alehouse league then we may as well chalk f**k to it and pack up now.
that means we'll be in another relegation scrap then, if we lose all those players. and this will mean pressure on hecky, we'll have to start from scratch yet again and this will take 2 seasons or more.....
Why? 3 of them will move to championship clubs, and we're not a championship club. The others are loan players who don't belong to us. Pretty much makes sense to me
