Windass has not featured since being substituted at half-time during Hull's Boxing Day defeat by Manchester City.

"Our boss made a number of changes to the side and gave some fringe players a chance to impress, but sadly I wasn't one of them," said the 39-year-old.

"I'm very frustrated and have no idea what is happening with my situation."

Windass added: "The manager hasn't spoken to me for three weeks. I'm not saying that to try to grab a headline - he's got other priorities like trying to run a football club - but simply to show how uncertain things are for me."

The former Bradford and Middlesbrough striker has been linked with moves to Leeds, Grimsby and Hartlepool but claims to know of no interest in the current transfer window.

His contract at the KC Stadium ends in the summer but he insists he will continue to work hard for Hull and take his chance when it comes.

606: DEBATE

Do you want Dean Windass to remain at the KC?

"As ever I'm training hard, biting my lip and getting on with things. I've said it so many times over the season but I just have to be ready if I'm called upon," Windass wrote in his blog on itv.com.

"I know Hull have already been linked with a number of strikers in the transfer window, which would obviously put my future here further in doubt.

"But I've heard nothing from the club or my agents about anyone making an offer for me."

The club told BBC Sport that any response to Windass's comments would be made in Brown's weekly press conference on Thursday.

Going to Huddersfield Town if my insider is correct. Anyway we don't want an old man who's not match fit.

Hull City's Dean Windass has been told he can leave the Tigers by boss Phil Brown.

The veteran striker has been left out of the City squad for the last two games after being substituted at half-time during the 5-1 thrashing at Manchester City on Boxing Day.

His availability has triggered immediate interest with Hartlepool already understood to have made a move for the striker, who turns 40 later this year.

He has already been linked with moves to Doncaster, Leeds and Grimsby this season but will consider his options carefully before deciding whether to make a loan move away from the KC Stadium.

Windass has endured a frustrating time since scoring the winner for his hometown club in last season's Championship play-off final, making just five Premier League appearances.

He claimed a goal in the 2-2 draw at Portsmouth and also scored in the Carling Cup defeat to Swansea but has fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Marlon King and Daniel Cousin.

The veteran had hoped to feature in last weekend's FA Cup third-round clash against Newcastle, for which Brown made seven changes, but did not even make the bench.

Windass said: "Our boss made a number of changes to the side and gave some fringe players a chance to impress, but sadly I wasn't one of them."

The striker's contract at the KC Stadium ends in the summer but he insists he will continue to work hard for the Tigers until something concrete happens.

He added: "I know Hull have already been linked with a number of strikers in the transfer window which would obviously put my future here further in doubt, but I've heard nothing from the club or my agents about anyone making an offer for me."

His problem will be length of contract, clubs will only want a 1 year deal,he will want a 3 year deal, that will be the stumbling block for him.
