Barnsley give up on Windass Barnsley today indicated they were ready to call off the chase for Dean Windass. The Tykes have not made an improved offer despite national press reports saying they were upping their bid from the £100,000 rejected last week. The full version of this story is in this evening's Telegraph & Argus, and will appear on the website later tonight.
Good player but.. Hardly fits the bill in terms of experience. Don't think he'll even have crossed Ritchies mind.
RE: Good player but.. its about ability. Wayne Ronney isnt experienced but he would get into any side in the world. Cant believe Bowditch is available for loan, id snap him up no worries. Gillingham and Blackpool want him so we would get him if we wanted him.
Ritchie said.. That if he was getting a striker in, he wanted experience. Bowditch isn't like that. By all accounts, he's a similar player to Hayes, creative but doesn't score too many. Decent shout if we can get him, but Ritchie wants experience, so if he takes Bowditch and Windass, thats six strikers. Far too many.
RE: Ritchie said.. whys he offered a trial to a 17 year old and scouting a 21 year old tonight then? If a players got ability it doesnt matter how old they are.
Hold on.. You seem to be suggesting that I'm saying we shouldn't sign him. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that Ritchie won't.
RE: We should go in for Dean Bowditch instead. Available on loan. If we were to go for a striker, what about Geoff Horsfield on loan or Robbie Blake?
RE: Hold on.. we need a striker who can score regularly at this level, if they have experience thats a bonus. Come on Bradford let him go.
But he'd be playing in the third division.. and as we keep getting told...we can't expect the best premiership quality players... he would do well for us imho. Wages might be a slight problem tho!!
Yeah I know.. I wasn't suggesting he wouldn't be a good signing. I just think the guys **** in the Premiership and can't understand why teams sign him.
