Finally managed to get connected to the wireless broadband on my laptop, but now the security settings are preventing me from running Messenger.

This is the message and supposed answer I'm getting. I have tried the suggestion of the download but it doesn't do anything...

Q1: Windows® Live™ Messenger 8.1 has stopped working. After signing in, an error message pops up, as the screen capture below shows. I did not encounter this problem with version 8.0.
Here are the details of the affected SW version:

The MSN build number is v8.1.0178.00.
    eDataSecurity v2.5.3023 – v2.5.3028
Is there any solution to fix the problem?

A: Install an updated eDataSecurity 2.5.3032 to permanently solve the problem.

Click here to download eDataSecurity 2.5.3032.

    To install:
    (1) Save and unzip " eDataSecurity_2.5.3032_CSD.zip" to a temporary folder in the target PC running the Windows Vista™ operating system.
    (2) Right-click "install_s.bat" and select Run as administrator.
    (3) The User Account Control dialog box pops up with the message, "Windows® needs your permission to continue." Click Continue to proceed.

    Any ideas? (dunno)

So what actually happened when you tried to install the eDataSecurity thingy?

Also, I noticed that the suggested method works for Windows Vista only... just thought you might have missed that bit and you're still using XP or something. :)

Hmm, I have no idea then (chinny)

Can't you uninstall the current version and then reinstall the previous version that works?
