Hello, just got a new lappy with Vista Business edition on. Have got up to date Anti Virus, but not sure how much faith to put in the Windows firewall - is it an improvment on the XP one? Or am i better off disabling it and installing Zone Alarm?

    Cheers.

It is a significant improvement over the XP one.

If you're behind a router (which has hardware firewall) the Vista one is good enough.

If not, I'd say a proper personal firewall is worthwhile.

Comodo always gets good write-ups as far as the freebies go, although ZA is a well-supported and popular choice.

    Cheers both

I thought having two firewalls running could be problematic? Anyhow i can get Zone Alarm for free with free updates for the next few years, i didn't know whtehr to bother or not. I'll put that on instead of using the Vista one. Cheers. By the way Eastie - glad you're no longer running Windows 98!

    RE: Yup

I had problems after an update, it was an update I hadn't installed correctly as it turned out.

    It was my error.
