... does anyone out there have this ? We have a laptop with the 2002 version of it and can't seem to get Windows Live or BBC iPlayer to work on it. From what little info I've managed to gather, I guess it's going to be easier to install Vista on it - what do you think ? TIA
Are you getting any error messages? both live messenger and bbc iplayer are compatible with media centre edition as its only really a reboxed version of windows xp with windows media centre Have you installed service pack 2 ?
Depends on the performance of the machine A computer that is that 'old' - in computer terms it is - may struggle to cope with Vista. Just install XP if you can find it
It's a new brand new laptop... ... seems that Microsoft aren't very helpful in identifying the version. From what I've found out, it always says 2002, even if it is 2004 or 2005. I've got SP2 on it and I've had a suggestion that the 2005 Rollup 2 will work on MCE 2002. Again, I just wonder if it is simpler to load a copy of Vista and use that ! Thanks
I've got XP media centre edition And BBC iPlayer won't work on it. Well, if I install iPlayer it actually stops internet explorer connecting to the internet.
I have Windows XP Media Centre edition... ...and have played the BBC iplayer on it but mine is the 2005 version.
I'm going to try the 2005 Rollup 2... ... it might be the answer, or it might screw it up completely. Then I'll put Vista on
