Yeah occasionally but I think you still have to pay the repair excess which is normally 10 quid

our lass got one, someone using a leaf blower, blowing leafs and dust and **** everywhere, charming, said it wasn't him ,but she never heard anything while driving it, hopefully when shops reopen someone will be in a car park in a shopping centre, to do it

can't really wait, guess i'll have to ring insurance up, iffy weather and numerous speed bumps & pot holes will make it beyond repair soon enough

Had mine done on insurance. Still failed MOT weeks later. Those that did it, then replaced the full screen. Free of charge.

Is it a chip and if so, is the damage more than 10mm in your eyeline or 40mm elsewhere. even if repaired and is noticeable. That is an MOT failure. Mine was still noticeable 12mm in my eyeline.

Ps both repair and then replacement done at home.

MOT are shocking next door but one car failed last time , for windscreen wiper not clearing properly, you think they just put you new one on and pass it

I just ask em to ring me with any possible failure and get it done whilst on site if they are able. ( never had a problem on that front) Lots give a retest at no extra cost if you get a repair done b4 the due date.

When they did my repair they may have fixed the chip but the surrounding crack was still visible mate. Failed. Ring the insurance co. Sure they’ll advise. On the rules. Either way you’ll be covered .
My excess for windscreen I think was £25 at the time. The repairer came originally with a new windscreen. But I assume thought a repair would suffice.
A 10p crack is nearly 25mm. Get advise mate.
Ps Doesn’t affect your no claims. (Normally)

    Hope the following helps

It can also cause you to fail your MOT.

In fact, if there is damage anywhere on the windscreen which is 40mm in size or bigger, your car will fail its MOT.

If you look at the diagram below, in zone A – the 290mm portion directly in front of the steering wheel – if you have damage more than 10mm in size, you’ll also fail your MOT.

It’s not just the legalities that should put you off though – you can’t see properly in the area of a crack in your windscreen, so you’re putting yourself and others at risk if you're driving. Not only that, but the force put onto your windscreen when you’re driving could easily shatter it, which is very dangerous.

I had a crack in mine a couple of months ago, had to pay excess of 60 quid i think then auto windscreens came to my house and replaced the windscreen.

You cant drive it for an hour after it has been replaced while the glue sets, so its probably better done at home if youre having the whole thing replaced.

Gerrit done. Years ago had a small chip in mine, less than 10mm. Left it and forgot about it until the whole screen cracked right across on the motorway. Not recommended

I've had 2 done on my insurance, was really easy to do and just pay the excess. Think they sent Autoglass both times who were great.

On the subject of MOT's, if you buy anything, as little as a quid in value, from Halfords before 19th April and book before 21 May you can get a free MOT anytime up to 21 November.
Got to be worth a look.
