Reports in media that we are running the rule over 20 year old ex-Woking speedy winger Reggie Young, who is currently on trial with Colchester United. He's rejected a new contract at Woking, so any compensation would be minimal.
I was thinking in terms of pecking order. Brown, Thiam, Thomas, Green, Simoes and Wilks can all play on the wing.
In all seriousness, with about 3 weeks of transfer window left, I'm quite concerned with our recruitment. There may well be talent in there and resale seems to be the defining factor. But with so many 21 year olds, many from overseas, many who've never played Stendels style of football, we're asking a lot to hit the ground running to try and stay in this league. I hope it works out, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we go straight back down. That's not a slight on the players, just what they are being asked to do so swiftly at such a tender age.
We We recruited early to get them all fit and upto speed. Our normal tactic of 2 days before 1st game seems long gone. Last seasons squad had never played under stendel and they did ok.....
Maybe we are trying to replicate our last season in the championship, where we assembled a squad that would be excellent in League One the following season.
I have my reservations but apart from the goalkeeper and the defenders. The rest of the squad is pretty much the same as the team that came down in 17/18. I'd say Brown, Bahre and Woodrow are improvements on Potts and Bradshaw. I'm looking forward to seeing how Thomas, Wilks, Bahre, Moore, Thiam and Woodrow are moulded into an attacking unit. Obviously all won't play at the same time. It's good competition for places. I'm confident Mowatt and Mcgeehan will work in the Championship because they both have something to prove.
They did... but they'd played and trained together more. And were older with more game experience. And were in a much lower league. We've some good players. But we've thrown an even younger bunch together and in just a few weeks expect them to compete in the Championship. We may well do it, and if so Stendel should be given freedom of the town, because this is a massive massive ask.
And with impending doom and searing rage that we have once more entrusted our future to the inexperience of youth, the one who calls himself "Conan" shall returneth....
Wash your mouth out! Though should be tarred and feathered for such libellous terms! Its odd when "slightly concerned" is turned into doom and searing rage. I hope we succeed. I hope we're a revelation. But crikey, surely its not an uncommon thought to wonder and maybe even doubt that signing such very very young players, especially when the manager has himself publicly called for experienced older heads, may not be as successful, immediately, as we'd all hope?
I'm not talking about you, you dope. I'm envisaging the return of the doom-mongerers should we start to lose a few.
Comparing me with Conan... now a dope ... a plague on thy houses! I wish you a life of odejayi one on ones ;-)
To be fair if we hadn't switched the back four all season and overlooked pinnock, loaned mowatt out, loaned mcgheehan out, played many players out of position including thiam as a lone striker. We might have survived bearing in mind one more win would have kept us up.
It is quite extraordinary that 3 of our best players from this season were completely overlooked last time we were in the Championship.
Look everyone take take a step back and a chill pill we'll be ok. The majority of the squad have had a season playing together and will have have learnt lessons from the last time. Don't forget Becky's gone and so has the imbecile who took us down with his inept tactics and team selection. We have a lot better manager now who knows what he's doing.
I think we were heading for relegation under Heckingbottom, but anyone more competent than Morais might have kept us up.
