Everyone has had an opportunity to offer their opinion on this - and i'm sure we're all of a similar mind. Let me speak mine, it will help me feel better if nothing else. First of all this is a horrendous insult to the fans. The Winnall deal is terrible business and we should've let him train with the reserves for 6 months before we let him go to anyone for that money (that we don't need) never mind to Wednesday. We have embarrassed ourselves. To such an extent that the club ought to investigate how it happened. A striker scoring goals consistently at this stage of the season is a red hot commodity - that six months is promotion or not for someone. That is worth so much more than a shocking half million. The trouble is we command no respect whatsoever in negotiations. We are forever capitulating and comjng away with next to nothing. This particular situation reminds me of the Vas Te and Butterfield situation. We just can't hold a team together for a full season. Instead we just fold our hand and prepare for a relegation slog. The number of decent players who have left us for next to nowt is enough to make you very very angry. I am. I am burning. For a bloody fact we should not sell to Wednesday. Point of principle. Ever. If Hourihane goes to Wednesday too (and particularly for the rumoured 1 million fee) the club can forget it. What is the point in supporting a club that will cut itself down at the knees? I'm not into self harm. The added aspect of Wednesday and their fans rubbing their hands makes it all that much worse. 1.5 million for Winnall and Hourihane in the January window, when we have some cash from John Stones? No amount of money can repair that insult. I cannot imagine how unsettling this must be for the manager and the rest of the squad. It's like Wednesday have someone inside our club cutting our throats. I'm not stupid - if someone will pay Winnall 20k a week, and Hourihane 30k a week, they're going to leave. Money talks and they're gone. There is no loyalty in football. That being said the club could and should get more compensation for the loss, and they should always prevent them from going to Sheffield while they are in contract. I'm so angry at the club it's painful.
Hourhine bid hasn't been accepted hecky said they hadnt been a offer for him yet..... Wasn't Butterfield a tribunal?
In summary. It's not fair, something happened that I didn't like and it's out of my control and it's not fair. I'm going to scream and scream and scream until I make myself sick.
Your spelling is atrocious. That should read "I'm going to thqueam and thqueam and thqueam until I'm thick". For what it's worth, I think the club got it spot on. Good player, but glad he's gone.
I'm not too bothered now he was abit of a **** anyway miss his goals thats all. Just hope we don't let conor go for peanuts 3million minimum
Top goal scorer leave to local rivals for next to nothing, you reckon it's spot on and glad he's gone, all very well handled. I think we'll have to agree to disagree.
Yep, there's no point in arguing as I'm listening to the match, and anyway I won't change your opinion and you won't change mine. You Reds!
I'm in the BRF camp it looks like we're going back to the days of Hill,Flitcroft etc ie the board not having a clue.
Only thing we could have done is put him in with u18s until we get the money we wanted. Or we could have water boarded the little rat in changing rooms until he signed a new deal. You are right someone at oakwell really needs to have a good cough and see if something drops and stop getting bullied.
Blind faith must be a wonderful thing . I'm sure some fans would be happy seeing us kicking about in league 2 . I've thought this through time and time again and tried to see it from the other side but can someone please explain to me how they can be happy selling our top goalscorer to our biggest rival for peanuts.
And he's just been on radio dee dar saying how happy he was to move to Wednesday. Not a word of gratitude to us . I feel bloody sick .
If I had a prized asset that I had sold and everybody was quoting a certain price and laughing at me and/or criticising me for selling that asset so cheaply I would be setting the record straight quicker than you can say blackies egg
