and what does this dozy manager do with him - play him in midfield, on the wing, anywhere but upfront. Get him in the box and he will score goals. What a waste - bet he cant wait to get away from Jokewell.
For a striker that the fans worship like a God (myself included), his goal record isn't brilliant and he is hardly consistent either. You can't always blame his position for that.
The lad has passion and will score goals in abundance. To do that the team has to be selected to benefit from his strengths. We rarely do that
He hasn't looked good this season, quite the opposite in fact. Whether that's down to playing up front on his own or out of position I'm not sure. He has looked lacklustre and unfit...
Winnall has to fetch and carry most of his chances. He is told to drop back and you can see him doing it. He cannot play up front on his own because the opposing team move out and put him offside. Not many young lads have the stamina and speed to keep that up through a match. He needs a good tricky partner that can move forward ,support him and lay it off to him. All he gets is Harris crosses now and then, and poor crosses from the rest. That is if ever they decide to put one in Harris prefers to cut in a shoot, leaving Winnal stuck there like a lemon
Nar then young Russ. 40 starts (13 sub) 18 goals. Nearly a 1 in 2 striker being played out of position or up front on his own. Pop him up front down at the Lane and he'd be in double figures by now...
14 goals in his first season at this level, even when missing the middle 4 months of the season and 5/6 already this season when he's been asked to play a role that completely nullifies his qualities. He's the best striker in the league by a distance and this retard fails to recognise the simplicity of playing to his strengths. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ah but Leejay wears a jumper so that obviously makes him intelligent and a football brain to be reckoned with. err no...he is absolutely clueless on his showing so far
LJ'sa fraud, he has no philosophy of his own just the one endless amount of managers are employing trying to emulate the Barca style. Because of this when things come along like the Winnall situation (a good player who doesnt fit into the system) he has no idea how to solve the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He had some work rate, but thats about it. I know lots on here rated him highly, but I never understood why ?
1 in 2 isn't a good record? That's 23 a season. He's played up front most of the season but generally on his own. Play him in a front 2, pass the ball to his feet, and he'll get 20 goals. I have no doubt about that whatsoever. Maybe that's that he issue, stop playing game plans to suit the roles of Hourihane or Pearson for example and play a game that brings the best out of a man who is capable of winning games. I'd say that would go for Michael Smith too, after all he got 18 himself last season. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
