Only if you claim benefits as I said. And I did say it increases over 80. I didnt quote I copied. It's in there. And it goes on to say if claiming benefits in a 2 person household. Only 1 can claim the heating allowance.
Sorry but that's what tories were doing looking after the needy you will not get hand outs off labour
We're in the **** after a disastrous 14 years of Conservative self indulgence. Give this lot time and then judge them. Change takes time. Farridge and his shysters would be an absolute disaster and their nests would be even more feathered than DePfeffels. Thankfully it won't happen.
I'm in agreement. But as an ex smoker. It would be in a designated place outside. Not a beer garden per se. For smokers. What gets my bag. In this day and age. Is, if in someone's house or car. And it's a non smoker. Please don't ask "Do you mind if I smoke" what a stupidly awkward question. Just go outside. Or wait till you get to a destination. And afore anyone says they can't go more than 10 minutes. Tens of thousands of miners including me went 7hrs +. Without one. Hard but You can do it.
Really mate. You do need a reality check. Or are you on a wind up. I'd laugh if it wasnt serious for those in poverty. Look back over history and the last 14 yrs. The pensioners are their only lifeline. Food banks. An NHS decimated Industries decimated with the loss of millions of decent paid jobs. Would get shut of unions ask yourself why. Unemployment is a tool, NOT a hindrance IT'S to keep wages down. We, under SYCC, had the cheapest transport system in the country. Some with cars moaned as it was subsidised. Even though their kids used it at 2p per journey. Now we want cars off the road. Guess who put an end to that. Copied Margaret Thatcher’s deregulation of bus services compounded the damage of deindustrialisation by severing transport links and isolating communities. It's called a fight to the bottom by the gullible. Yer avin a laugh mate and the tories love folk like you. Labour not perfect by any means Created the NHS. Nationalised industries Support workers rights Created the welfare system. Copied Clement Attlee, the British Labour Party leader and prime minister from 1945–1951, established the welfare state after World War II. The Labour government introduced the welfare state to address the "Five Giants" of squalor, disease, want, idleness, and ignorance. The Beveridge Report was a key part of the foundations of the welfare state. The report proposed a contributory system that would give the population access to maternity, child, and unemployment benefits, state pensions, and funeral allowances. It also proposed a universal health care system that would be free at the point of use. Aye vote Tory.
Why were they offering hand outs? They failed to fix the problems in society in fact made them worse including all of our public services and the crashed the economy. Hand outs are just a sticking plaster that fixed nothing just pushed it down the road at massive expense that the new government now have to deal with.
Over the years, passive smoking has been the final nail in the coffins of many people. As for car exhaust fumes, I do my best to avoid main roads when out walking. I agree that they also damage the health of many, as well as wrecking the planet. That's why the current government is keen to get to "net zero" as soon as possible.
I knew Blair was very popular but didn't think Starmer was that unpopular. At this point in Blair’s early term, the Labour government had 68% support. Starmer’s government has an approval rating of only 23% after a similar period of time in office. Another poll had Blair’s net approval rating at plus 65; Starmer is at minus 16.
The sheer size of the Labour majority is a disaster. Good governance requires checks and balances, an opposition that is significant enough to have an oversight impact and the ever present threat of the government being defeated on proposals that are just plain wrong. At the moment, and for the next 5 years, we have none of that. They can literally do what they want. It never makes for good government.
Just my opinion but I thought that the con - lib coalition worked pretty well and was one of the more stable 5 year periods of government we had in recent times. I am not expecting many to agree because none of the policies were those that a Labour supporter would agree with, but I thought they bounced off each other quite well, compromised effectively and got things done. The Lib dems made enemies within their supporter base but it is something I have never understood as the default view of lib dems is to support PR, which means coalition. Do they mean they favour coalition but just not when it is with the tories? Can't have it both ways.
I sympathise with you on that and I'm sure there will be others with issues. However, on balance I think this is a bad move if it happens. It will undermine the hospitality sector and although I'm no libertarian conservative it's too dictatorial in the light of the fact that indoor smoking is already banned. As I say I see where you're coming from but on balance I think its the wrong call while there's still a lot of people who smoke. If I had issues with breathing outdoor smoke in I'd actually stay in the pub.
I dont understand why we would even put this near the top of the plan to recoup money. There was so much talk of an energy tax and then they decide to go for this just as we hit Winter I have a lot of faith in Starmer and want to give him time to fix the mess he inherited, but this feels like the first real mistake. Its hardly the poll tax but its still not a smart play. Be interesting to see if any rebel and join Corbyn's new alliance
They'll not join Corbyn. Be slitting their political throats if they did that imo. Its Starmers obsessional focus on party discipline and unwillingness to compromise that's causing this. I'm surprised he won't budge in some ways as he's abandoned other things he purportedly believed in.. I think its down to his belief in the necessity of controlling the Labour Party that's causing this. In my opinion.
£5.00 + a pint and ridiculous mark up on wine will undermine the hospitality business. What is the profit margin on a pint?
