I'd say 6 2 full backs, a centre half, a centre midfield ball winner and 2 new strikers. and I'd let Howard, Austin, Richards and Heckinbottom go to any club prepared to take them. wit drinkingcultureart.
lets be realistic GS is never actually going to bring in the 8 players or whatever he said we were looking at. With the money we've got we need a centre half, a left back and a forward, we could do with a Ronnie Wallwork type midfielder as well but I reckon if we get decent examples of the first three positions we could do without one because we have plenty of midfielders even if they're not top quality. We don't need a goalkepper because Colgan is OK and we'll get more benefit improving the rest of the team, he rarely makes mistakes and kept the scoreline just respectable yesterday. Finally I think Hassel and Austin are competent right backs so we don't really need to splash out there. Just concentrate out funds on a lb, cb and cf because they are the positions most desperately lacking.
"he rarely makes mistakes" gunna disagree.... Colgan 1) never comands his area 2) never comes for a ball 3) never talks to his defenders apart from making a few shot stoppin saves (of which most keepers would make anyway) he is only good for saving penalties. An average keeper with no real challenge for no. 1 jersey since flinders went. accepted that this is not the number one priority (CB instead of Paul Reid, a LB instead of that chimp Hecky, and another ronnie wallwork have to be the mimimum signings required) but just when colgan starts to show his real ability and command, he gets that forgot by making a couple of saves that most keepers would make and keeps out a penalty.
well i like colgan..but he's always likely to cost us 3 or 4 goals a season just look at Rowlands winner for QPR and Andrews goal setdy. and not to mention Robinson in play off final
