Surely clubs such as ourselves and many others in the championship are ripe for big investment.

If you built a team for say £15 to £20 million and are promoted then you are guaranteed around £60 million quid, which is a great return. Obviously football is not an exact science but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the "cheaper" championship clubs come under the microscope for investors.

    im probably talking ballax.

your theory is fine until it comes up against the slight problem that there are only 20 places in the premier league, therefore the return on investment of say 20m will be peanuts unless promotion is achieved.

If say 6 championship clubs are invested in this way then they will still not be able to match the wealth of the existing prem clubs that will be relegatedso therefore you could have 3 relegated clubs & 6 new monied clubs andsay 2 well run clubs whichjust happened to have everything click in the season. They would be competeing for just the three promotion places.

You could argue that this is not toodisimilar to the current situationand i would agree except for one critical point, the newinvestors in thechampionshipclubs would bebusiness men andunless the club they have invested in gets to the premier league in the first couple of seasons they will not get a return on this and therefore could walk away. Even worse could happen in that once their intial investment is made theirsole objective is to obtain promotion. This could mean trying to obtain the 'best' players on long contracts which would have to be funded by the club on an ongoing basis.

We've seen what 'living the dream' can bring at Elland Road with 'imaginative' financial plans and that was with a chairman who was a fan.Imagine what an outside investor with no ties to the clubwould do in order to chase their dream which is not glory but the financialreturn on their investment.

Then either slosh a few more funds in and have another bash or cut yer losses and sell up? Its a gamble yeh but much higher yeilds than buying a Prem club?
