I think it's vital we crack the 40 point barrier by 5pm next Saturday . If we do so , then the 50 point safety finishing line is within our sights . Also , can we please ( as fans ) stop throwing the towel in simply because we're playing a club in the top half of the table ? Hull City and Southend United have both shown recently that wins CAN be obtained against these so called superior teams and I , for one , don't think we are less of a side than either the Tigers or Shrimpers . Derby and Birmingham City at home in the next few weeks ? Big deal ! Leeds , Southend and Hull have all beaten Birmingham this season . Also , Hull pulled off a draw at Pride Park just before we thrashed them at Oakwell . The team can survive this season if they show belief ( no more insipid Sheffield Wednesday type performances ) , are prepared to take the game to the opposition , play to our strengths (eg getting more of the ball to Brian Howard in areas that will hurt the other team ) and stop handing over the initiative simply because of who we are playing ( eg. Preston North End ) .
Too many people are 'Throwing in the Towel' We have every chance of getting another 10 or 12 points, at least. The teams that are winning nothing, regardless, are Luton, QPR, Burnley, Leeds, Southend, with the exeption of Southend I can't see any of these getting more points than us.
