£15 million transfer and 40k weekly wage for 5 years.......... Football truly is dead to the common man. I know financial FairPlay at best has been sketchy but this is purely farcical If wolves can pay that plus 40k a week for 5 years for one player alone then they are either making huge amounts in gate and commercial revenue or it's yet another example of the FA turning yet another blind eye. Sad as it is I really hope this bubble will burst as it is getting silly. It's going to take one or two high profile clubs to actually go bust in my opinion though for anything to happen. Glad I'm of a certain age when I can remember football as a sport/game played for the right reasons. RIP
I understand why Wolves would want to sign him, I don't understand why he'd want to go to Wolves. He's a full international, played for a club who compete (and I mean compete, not play) in the Champions league and if he had a decent season in 17/18 could choose to go to a European heavyweight. Mental.
No idea about his reasons just baffled how it's allowed, crazy. What's even more annoying is the new generation of sky sports football fans just look at this and teams like ourselves who are playing within the rules and let's be fair competing fantastically considering the huge gulf are just seen as 'tinpot' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The problem with financial fair play is that teams get 3 years to dig a massive financial hole, and if they get out of the league within that 3 years, they avoid punishment. Brighton would have been punished (in theory) had they not gone up this season. But they did so that's okay apparently. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
Some of our own fans accuse us of lacking ambition and having a corner shop mentality, but stats like those really put things into perspective in terms of the disparity in our league. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
If brizzle, brum, villa, wolves, Wendy's and scummy leeds don't all get promoted which they all can't then with the outlay and expectation on them they must get to being on the verge of collapsing as clubs it can't be sustained they must be paying out more than is coming in and that can't go on for long. I love to see our low cost, lowly paid, well coached, highly motivated team of young uns compete and do well. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Ironically the reason that they've got him is that Porto needed to sell him quickly to avoid failing their own FFP. Jorge Mendez is his agent and he's pals with the owners at Wolves it's the reason they signed that Portuguese kid from Benfica last season. Sky's viewing figures dropped dramatically last season due to Kodi and younger people's viewing habits changing. I don't think the next tv deal will be anywhere near what this one was, unless Facebook or Apple take it up! Most of the premier league clubs and a lot of Championship clubs are going to be up **** creek IMO
