If he goes to a league one club i will refer to him as, League One Luke. LOL, and that's what i will be doing if he leaves to a league one club. And the league one part will have to be said in the way Paolo Di Canio
Come on Mario i like Luke Steele but he seems to think he's better than the club and offer available. He said a few week ago that he would leave if a better offer was there. If he's anywhere near as good as people are making out then why aren't clubs in for him? The only rumour to surface, A league one club. Port vale or Leicester?
I like Luke Steele and think he's a Championship quality keeper, with the potential to be a PL keeper. However, if his desired wages are preventing us from signing much needed outfield players (such as a top quality CB), then I'd do exactly what Flicker has e.g. offer him reduced/same terms and risk losing him. There are plenty of other keepers around that can do a good job, and if Wolves are interested I'd be inclined to look at Carl Ikeme. Luke has been a great servant to us, and deserves a lot of credit (just like Bobby). If he goes then he'll leave on good terms, if he stays he'll be as welcome as he ever was. I can't blame the guy for looking for the best possible deal as football is a short career.
Wolves are a huge club, it matters not what division they reside in at present. If Luke goes there, it's arguably a step up.
Re: so by your values he caould also go to Pompey or Blunts I'm not buying that. Wolves, fair enough. But friggin' Pompey a bigger club than us? Naew. And the Blunts? They'll be huge in the Conference soon.
