If I'd played as well as him and couldn't get back in after the way Muller's been playing I'd be seriously fecked off.

Not knocking Heinz, he's been great since he joined, but for whatever reason, maybe a lack of full fitness, is struggling right now.

    Wouldn't single him out tonight

Left woefully exposed by the defence on all 3.

I think it's more the shambles in front of him to be fair....

    I'm not singling him out...

But at the moment he looks a pale shade of his previous form.

Just feel sorry for Steele... having said that with the way we defended he's probably happy he's not playing.

    agreed

Steele did nothing to lose his place and muller has been awful since coming back in. A few saves made to look good but the basics of goalkeeping he has been woeful at.

the shambles in front of him

isn't what is making his kicking bad is it? It's not what is causing him to have difficulties holding onto the simplest of balls (he failed to hold a simple one against donny as well), and it isn't what is making him about as fast as darren moore off his line.

    Get a grip..

Muller is better than Steele. He caught crosses tonight that Steele would have gawped at

RE: the shambles in front of him

His kicking wasn't that bad...and is hardly Steele's strong point. For once I have to back SD here...

    his kicking was poor

it was against donny, against ipswich and tonight. i'm talking about the kicks that last season he would have put down the pitch but this season for whatever reason is only able to kick along the floor to their players or to slice out of play.

and your proof of that is where?

steele did NOTHING wrong to warrent being dropped. Muller was rushed back and he himself said that his knee isnt 100% yet.

    He was "rushed" back...

because he is a better keeper than Steele. Davey is right on this one I'm afraid. Steele has the potential, but so far for me has had one good game in a Red shirt.

His previous form proves he is.

And the fact that Steele will never have a good a game as he had at Anfield ever again.

I fear it's just another thing to have a pop at SD about.

Kept us in the game against Derby

Made some brilliant saves and was given man of the match - then Hume struck and we got one of only 2 wins this season.

Where was his handling poor tonight?

His kicking isn't at its best, thats for sure. But most of Steele's goalkicks went out for throwins too.

The 1st goal Muller is left exposed by a short backpass. Has to come, didn't get there. 2nd goal is garbage from Anderson, 3rd is garbage from Foster.

Not sure how Steele would have made a difference - and no, I'm not looking for an argument or "stalking" you.

    Oh come on ST..

You KNOW that Muller is the better of the two but can't see beyond using the dropping of Steele to beat Davey with. There are plenty of more worthy things to beat him for. Like keeping the woeful Leion in the side
