Looked like some were heading for the exits. How sick must they feel missing a sensational ending to the game like that!! I have never understood the mentality of people giving up on their team just because they are a couple of goals down and there are minutes to play. Anything can happen in two minutes, as was proved tonight. Serves them right if they had to sit in the car park listening to it on the radio:biggrin:
Ahem! I'm thinking back to Saturday.... Our record of coming back after going behind, clearly shows that there wasn't a cat in hells chance we were gonna pull that one back when the fourth went in. And that's why they played the last 10 minutes in front of less than a couple of thousand Barnsley fans
True in that case we werent likely to come back but you never know I stuck it to the end though - certainly 2 goal leads can become one very quickly and that always makes the last few minutes interesting - I did once see us come back from 3-0 down after 15mins to win 4-3 and I have seen many injury time goals so to me leaving early rarely makes sense. Always find it hilarious some Liverpool fans having gone all the way across Europe to a cup final left at half time when they were 3-0 down - you know the rest...
I don't even think it's a case of not leaving because you might pull it back. You never know but leaving early you just might miss an absolutely cracking goal....may not make a difference to the result. Of course, as I walk to the ground it's not going to make any difference to how long it takes me to get home....in fact loads of people leaving early actually means I can get out of the stadium quicker as the stairwell isn't as busy!
I have seen our fans leave 5minutes before end plus extra time and we have been just a goal behind. Cannot understand them.
Never left a game early, whatever the score. Even if the result is already settled the possibility of seeing a Barnsley player score, even if it is a consolation goal, is worth staying for. That's what we go for isn't it - that surge of ridiculous euphoria when the ball hits the back of the opposition net. Let's face it, it doesn't happen often so why waste the chance of seeing this rare phenomenon? Not like it is an all day long cricket match is it - it's only NINETY MINUTES plus a few minutes added on. Are people's attention spans really so short that they cannot manage the whole match?
