The two cases aren't really very similar

Cannavaro was stung by a bee and took emergancy medication. He applied to be exempt from drugs testing because of it but somehow failed to include one of the documents required to complete the application.

Kenny on the other hand took medicine for a cold without reading the label to even bother to check if it had anything in it that he couldnt have. He took more than the prescribed amount as well and never bothered to tell sheffield uniteds own medical staff nevermind the FA.

One of them took too much of something he shouldnt have had in the first place without telling anyone and without any concern about whether it was against the rules and the other took emergancy medicine because of a bee sting and alerted the authorities but made a balls up with the paperwork.

    Mmmm, ok but

Do you think that Cannavaro would have had the same joy if (a) he wasn't an essential member of the Italian national team and (b) it wasn't a world cup year?

By the way I am using true BBS etiquette in that I'm forming opinions about stuff I don't know the full story to, nor can I be bothered to find out ;-)

    Added:

Also I wonder if emotively we'd feel the same way if cannavaro had a 9 month ban and Kenny had got off. I do think there are similarities. In my experience, unless you do have a severe reaction then antihistamines are not necessary to treat bee stings. So (again utilising my BBS etiquette) I'd question the use of the word 'emergency' in the Cannavaro case.

Its a good etiquette to use lol

I don't know, I think that he probably would have had the same success because he was able to put forward a good argument as to why he took the medicine (bee sting) and also evidence to show that he had attempted to notify the authorities but just didn't do it properly. If it was up to me he'd get away with taking the drugs but would get a warning and fine for the paperwork issue.

Kenny on the other hand would have got a big ban for deliberatly keeping information from the authorities

also Canna took the cream to stop him from having anaphylactic shock as he is alergic to wasp/bee stings, he could have died, i doubt Paddy would have died from a hit of the common cold?
