Would nt it be great to dream that you could buy any player in the world. who would you want to sign first. Me personally would be messi all round great player
id rather go to a match without a clue how we were going to play - or at least be like the premier league season where you knew you could turn up seeing a cracking game played by a decent bunch of lads. I wouldnt want to be a chelsea fan or a man city fan. Making a mockery of it all.
Bottom has got to fall out of the market before long Italy had financial problems a few years ago - it'll happen here too when they get fed up of football and it's going to be a massive fallout!
I agree - take out Torres and Gerrard and Liverpool have nothing Very poor squad when compared to the others - lack quality in lots of areas
RE: I agree - take out Torres and Gerrard and Liverpool have nothing Liverpool seem to be left behind. On another note... Hows the city centre looking? Has the monstrosity stuck on the side of Lime St been demolished yet? Ah well at least they have a mechanical spider..
No still there - started working on it though The city centre is ok at the moment - people are taking over the empty shops so it's not so bare. The spider has captured a lot of attention but so it should for 1.2 million - should have kept the Lamb-bananas though!
RE: No still there - started working on it though why on Earth does everything take so long there. I don't like the new shopping centre. Looks like it will look shabby in a few years and the bus station is very poor. Barnsley bus station is many times better. Plus demolishing Quigans is unforgivable. New shopping centre and all the grand old buildings on Queens St empty. /poo Thats how it seemed when I was there a few months ago. Plus what will happen with this recession when consumers stop spending? All the city centre seems to be is a big entertaiment centre. The business district is minimal.
RE: I agree - take out Torres and Gerrard and Liverpool have nothing But then Arsenal must be on thin ice too no?
RE: Bottom has got to fall out of the market before long Until now, the big four were pretty much nailed on at the start of the season. The big four have now become the big five with Man City investment. Villa aren't far behind making it a big six after the amount they've spent previously. Problem is there is only 4 Champs League spots up for grabs. The big investors had previously bought into teams pretty much certain to qualify. Now, however, there could be 6 teams trying to get into the top 4, and the two to miss out will suffer the most. Personally I feel that the teams financed by debt, which seem to be American backed teams (Man Utd, Liverpool & Villa) have the most to lose by not qualifying. Failure to qualify, plus the effects of the credit crunch could have a big effect on teams like Man U and Liverpool. If Financial Institutions started calling in their loans then you can imagine fire sales by these sides which would them remove them from the top clubs in the league and severely p!ss off their supporters! To be honest wouldn't be suprised to see the idea of a European break away league mooted around more often in order to increase revenue for the two teas who fail to qualify for the Champs League! But where would that leave the FL?
If a arab or russian or someone came in for barnsley i think i would lose interest as i'd rather the team get succes through hard work and cleaver weallings and dealings in transfer window rather than buy just throwing money around
