All would command huge wages I imagine. I'd take any of them though, maybe could get Man Utd to cover some of the wages.

think the bigger clubs put a scale in for wages to playing games. play so many games and the pays minimal.

    Apparently at Liverpool it's 75%

Might have got that the wrong way around.

Liverpool insist that their players play in 75% of games, and if they don't then there are financial penalties...

I realised Jose would want to do his thing, but of the names you mention, Wilson, Blackett and McNair surprise me. Thought they'd all be around the first team fringes this season.
McNair or Blackett would be a good shout if Alfie moved on. Though my preference is for him to stay put, long term.

    Why if they go?

They could partner him. Real quality at the back. Plus Blackett and maybe McNair can play left back which would be a positive for the match day squad.

Daily Star know less than you do about football.

I don't believe this myth about 75% either.

And well done on making it known you don't rate Robbo. Again.

Mawson isn't even our best defender. It would be weakening the first 11 if we kept him and replaced his partner. He's the most saleable centre back but that is different from being the current best

it was from Liverpool Echo Andy. It's something that Liverpool insist on.

That's what they are doing with transfer loans and more.

On Marc Roberts, Why does it matter if I rate him or not Andy. You don't really know what I like or not like 99% of the forum. But if I like him or not a better footballer comes up then i'd hope Barnsley go and sign them.

    FFS.

Alfies not our best centre back.

He's by far the better centre back at the club. That's why he's been linked with some of the bigger clubs in the division and one of the only players in the squad worth seven figures.

Do you think any club would sign any of our other centre backs for seven figures?

    FWIW I really rate Alfie.
But I really rate Robbo too, and if he performs the first half of this season like he did the second half of last, then he will become our most saleable assett come January (defence wise, any road).
Also, FWIW I rate Long, and would happily see him back at the club to strengthen and give us options.
AND I have always rated Nyatanga. I admit he struggled last season (who didn't in that long spell?) and his confidence dropped more than anybody. But he has performed in the past, we know he can do it, and he has played a lot in the Champ. I believe in him, and am more than happy to see him back to his best with us. really surprised me that he didn't grab the bull by the horns and make a push for the Welsh Euros squad; not saying he would have been first name on the teamsheet but he's been around that squad a long time.

I reckon it's ********, Phil. I don't see us adding players that we 'must' play, regardless of form.

I might be wrong. I often am.

As for your point about defenders, I just see you making digs at the same players. It's boring.

Maybe Barnsley are happy to pay the fee but it seems having read a few things that it's a klopp thing.

He was annoyed that they send out players and they don't play them. TBH it's something that I'm sure most clubs are. They can afford to take the hit of wages if the club play them and they benefit from player development.

If you read that link it read they are doing the buy back that Madrid and Barcelona are doing. It works for the Spanish
