REDS caretaker manager Simon Davey gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's local derby at Elland Road.

Simon said: "To be fair we have not had much news back from the hospital in Manchester yet. We have released a statement on our Official Website - Ronnie (Wallwork) has been involved in an incident of which we do not know much about. We are all concerned for him and he has been a fantastic pro during his short time here at the club.

"We are all wishing him a speedy recovery. We have not had much information other than a telephone call to say that Ronnie has been involved in an incident and he is in hospital. We do not know the extent of his injuries so we have to pray for him and hope he comes through it.

    he comes through it."

"I am sure that we will have more news towards the end of this afternoon. When things like this happen you hear a lot of rumours so, as a club, we want to make sure that we do not jump to any conclusions. We care for Ronnie and we hope he is ok.

"It was a massive shock. I was devastated to get a call like that at 9.30am to tell me that one of our players has been involved in an incident. I have spoken with the rest of the players to let them know and we are hoping he will be alright. We do not know the extent of his injuries but hopefully he will be ok.

"Ronnie was suspended for this weekend and cannot play next week against West Brom. We do not know the extent of the incident and are not going to jump to any conclusions.

"The players are in shock. It is a shock to the system but they are professionals and have trained well. They are preparing for the game tomorrow".

He added: "Looking to tomorrow we will be without Antony Kay for the trip to Leeds. He will not be available but we will have Paul Reid back to skipper the side.

"We have done well in the last two games and our centre halves have been crucial to that. Antony and Bobby Hassell did that job very well against Southend and so to lose one of them would be devastating but we have Paul back in the frame.

"Other than that we are looking ok apart from the fact that Kyel Reid is out suspended along with Ronnie (Wallwork).

"I am keeping things up my sleeve at the moment but we have watched Leeds and know that they will be a different team at home. We have had them watched and we will set our stall out to make sure we will be hard to beat. Hopefully our passing will be as good as it was in the first half against Southend and we can go on and get a result.

"It is a time for the players to pull together. There will not be any difference in team selection because Ronnie is suspended anyway but I think today's events will pull the lads together. We are all hoping that Ronnie will be ok and we are focussed on the game. "It is a time for the players to pull together. "A lot of things are thrown at you in football and as a club we have to deal with the situation.

"Every time you step onto a pitch in a local derby you need leaders out there. The likes of Nick Colgan and Paul Reid do that job for us but we have seen every player do that in a Barnsley shirt during the last two games. I am sure that they are all ready and raring to go.

"I have been in football for 20 years as a player, coach and now caretaker manager and I enjoy it tremendously.

"I have not even thought of taking the job on a permanent basis. I have been in the job for a week or so - we have had two games and a lot of players coming in and out as well as what has happened in the last few hours so I have not had chance to sit down and think about it. I am focussed on preparing the players for Leeds United and that's it.

"When you are involved in football then you always look to the big stage. I never played at the highest level so as a coach I want to work and manage teams in environments like Elland Road. Leeds is a huge club so to take a team out there as manager is a privilege and a proud moment".
