Today was by far the most attacking team Keith Hill has put out. Even more so when he brought off Done and put Vaz Te on. I'm sure he'll be well pleased that we scored 4 goals, particularly away from home, but I can imagine he was tearing his hair out when we conceded three in less than ten minutes, plus it sounded like Steele made a string of excellent saves. In the end we won the game and I'm sure we as fans would be delighted with that kind of entertainment every week, but I think Keith likes to see his teams a lot more solid and I fully expect to see Perkins back in the side for the Palace game. Top marks for your team selection today though Keith, it worked, we won and we gave those that went some first class entertainment.
Hope so..with Davies banging em in...Vas Te with 2 in 2, and today's being a absolute screamer.. Ranger can only get better, the more games he gets...and also Danny Haynes coming on today and according to Radio Sheff also looking up for it.. So for me this is the ideal time of us to go more attacking...we were also struggling a few weeks back. struggling for goals..we'd been found out..with the Stop Butterfield stop Barnsley ploy...which were working
I think Perkins is a certainty, we missed him in the middle but today was great example of the emotional roller coaster that is football. One of those away games you remember for a very long time.
Really hope so and maybe at home we will - be surprised if we do that away again any time soon though ...unfortunately So nice to have the options though Ranger, Davies, -Haynes getting back to fitness - may have seen the last of Andy Gray though (with any luck)
It's nice to have the choices isn't it. We have got a squad of players where they need to perform every week or there are plenty to take your place. We look to have some firepower all of a sudden.
Re: Really hope so I think Keith will adjust for each side we face, now we have options. Palace are poor up top, but strong at back. So maybe he'll stick with two up top? Great problems to have, I wouldnt enjoy telling any of em "you're dropped" Must be mindful of Zaha and Scannell's pace against our full-backs though
Re: Really hope so same as Keith hill said on barnsley player ,shot ourselves in the foot didn't put our foot on the ball when 3-0 up hold possession and control game.could have easily lost or drawn game.have to defend better ,we have the players to do it (a learning curve). did not let heads go down when conceding 3 goals though, have to close players down better . positives --not now nailed on to loose away, good chance of winning games away. A winning mentality is circumnavigating Oakwell, not seen dare i say since pr-premiership tykes of 97.
Re: Really hope so Scannell got injured in the Man Utd game and didn't play last night. Hope he's still out on Tuesday...
Re: Really hope so That would be a bonus. An injured JayMac against pace is the worry for me.. in a game our fickle portion of supporters will expect us to win easily, without getting behind em.. And just a point regarding the many references to 'the last time we did this well in 96-97' Has everybody forgot about our Millennium season? Hundred goals scored, many conceded, and the likes of Barnard, Eaden, Dyer, Shipperley and Hignett in their pomp
He can leap like a salmon. More of a nuisance than a threat. I'd like to see him leather a few to settle in
