His memorial service from Durham Cathedral was extremely moving and very apt. A great tribute to a great man.
Wor Bobby Anyone remember how many sick jokes went around when Michael Jackson died? Or Patrick Swayze last week, or even Diana and the Queen Mother years back? Loads. Dozens, maybe hundreds. I have not seen or heard one regarding Sir Bobby. I think that illustrates perfectly what people thought of him. 100% respect. I'm not necessarily condoning sick humour, nor am I attacking it, but the fact that only kind and praising words have been said by anybody re Wor Bobby shows just how much of a legend he was and how much of a legacy he has left. Sleep well, Sir Bob. (angel)
That's true Hadn't really thought of it, but I believe you're right.. Hopefully, no one will try and remedy that. Rest In Peace, Sir Bobby.
I hadn't even thought of that but it does speak volumes. I haven't heard a joke about him either, usually hear loads when famous people die. A mark of the man he was. Normally when people I don't actually know die I don't really having any real feelings about it, but I am genuinely gutted about Sir Bobby, can't believe we will never see him again. I thought he was great. He will be missed.
It's ok I only just learned today that the American sprinter Florence Griffith-Joiner (Flo Jo) had died - and it was only because on the radio they were doing a "this day 10 years ago" piece! The missus didn't know either!
RE: I hadn't even thought of that every fan from home an away chanted and sang there hearts out for him when he died coz he was a top legend of the game. Big respect for the top boy sir bobby robson. he will always be number 1.
That explains nothing, my friend. I too was in the States at the time, but I knew. Explain that then.
