You know those days when you drank far too much the day before and expect to wake up feeling like crap but actually completely get away with it? Bonus days. Aren't they great?

    Off to watch MOTD now.

    You sure?

I have on rare occasions done that and at 7am been feeling fine - then mid morning gone downhill rapidly as I sobered up and the hangover started to kick in.

Only seem to really get away with it if I drink german beer that conforms to their purity laws

    Totally agree

At 7am one is simply unqualified to make a rational decision about one's constitution for the day ahead.

I can refute the claim about the German "Reinheitsgebot" however - never worked for me!

Actually it was 8:30 over here

And I'm glad to report that it is indeed a bonus day. And the sun is coming out. I'm probably going to be annoyingly cheerful all day. Apart from perhaps the bit coming up where I watch yesterdays "highlights" . . .

    Really that surprising

I find even as little as 2 pints of english bitter = bad head next day
5 pints = write day off as too ill to do anything

if drinking Löwenbräu, Hofbräu or Pauliner - Hellas not Weissbier! - locally brewed in Munich (not any brewed under licence rubbish)
2 liters (4 pints approx) no effect at all next day
4 litres - feel a bit stunned when waking up but soon recover definitely fine by lunchtime

Never done a fair test I suppose

When in Hamburg typically we'll go out and have a few beers, but usually have a couple of glasses of wine at home before bed, so it's probably the wine that does for me.

I love Theakstons when over here but a few pints of it and it does for me in the morning.
