Just thought I'd spread the word as our house was broken into on Sunday night and stole 2 thousand pounds worth of DeWalt tools. 2 cars have also been stollen off our same street! I know there's a few posters on here from darfield so I thought I would spread the word and hope these scrounging *******s get caught. Was up all night watching out for these robbing ****s incase 'lightening stuck twice'. I've just spend 450 quid on CCTV too, oh and a cricket bat from sports direct for a bargain 8.99!! The world we live in is ****ed.
Sorry to hear that mate, remember getting burgled when I was a kid, bit strange as we didn't really have anything worth nicking. If I remember they took a video recorder that must have weighed about 20 kilos and a carriage clock worth 3/8 of bugger all. Thankfully it doesn't seem as common now but I'd recommend anyone invest in CCTV, the hard drive based systems these days pretty much sort themselves out once they are set up so you can forget about them and only have to review the tape should the worst happen, obviously they are even more effective as a deterrent.
It's actually got to me more than I thought it would, I've never been burgled before. I guess the thoughts of someone being in your home (the once place you feel safe) while your asleep is pretty scary. The tools that have been stollen mean nothing to me, it's purely the thoughts of someone being in my home which has shot my insecurity levels sky high! The one night I forget to set the alarm aswell, Sod's law eh? CCTV is a must have nowadays, and like you said, I'd recommend to anyone. I'm currently sat here watching my cameras on a 40 inch screen with a beer! So it's not all bad! But like I said I feel pretty edgy right now, hence the bat... It may seem a little extreme but that's how it's got me. The selfish swines even stole our washing basket to cart away the gear! The nerve of these people is unreal.
Yeah I can understand the feeling of violation of someone being in your home, not good. I've known people move because of it but I suppose the chances of being targeted again are pretty slim and it's generally an indiscriminate crime so it can happen anywhere. I definitely think CCTV should be installed over an alarm these days, I have to admit I hear alarms going off regularly and to be honest these things 'cry wolf' so often that I wouldn't imagine many people react to them. Obviously different if you're upstairs in bed like.
Sorry to hear that DF, I got burgled about 7 years ago , took both my cars but they were really after the brand new Golf we had just got. In my case I got up to the toilet and thought I heard a car door go, went to look out the bedroom window, to see the cars disappearing down the road. They'd jemmied the kitchen window and got the keys from the side, very professional job , unlike the Police who were a total shambles but thats another story
Sorry to hear that mate. I had my garden shed broken into last Summer, and they stole my push bike (a good bike it was too, worth about £450). That hurt quite a bit, but like you touched upon, it was the though of these cretins sneaking around my garden at night. Actually being in my garden and potentially even looking in my windows - that was quite unnerving. I can't imagine what I'd have felt if they'd have been in my home. I've thought long and hard about what I'd have done that night if I'd have heard them out back. What could I have done? You whack one of the around the head with a bat and kill them, it's you that's up the proverbial creek. Like you say, the world is f***ed.
Sorry to hear that darfield, I also live in darfield and was told last night that there's been a load of dogs being stolen up here at minute aswell. 5 jack Russell's from one house apparantely amongst others, I have a young jack Russell and am now worried about letting him out into the garden.
Sorry to hear that DR. I hope these scroats are caught and served some proper justice before the police catch them.
I disturbs me that there are people out there that do such things, scum of the Earth. Sorry to hear this D-R, as you say, it's more the thought of someone being in your 'safe place'.
Our burglar alarm went off at 1:30 this morning. I shot downstairs worried that one of the kids would be at the bottom scared out of their wits, but it never occured to me there might be someone in the house. As it was it turned out to be a ruddy cat. The previous owners of our house had a cat, so there's a cat flap in the utility room door. Someone must have fiddled with the catch, as it was unlocked, so the little s0d decided to sneak in. The alarm is very loud, but nobody else on our street was concerned enough about it to do anything! Having said that, I wouldn't imagine that any intruders would have hung around with that noise going off. Course, I couldn't get back to sleep for the rest of the night and I'm gibbered now.
Darfield ,i had me bike knicked a few years ago from outside Longbow, word on the street then was always,Barrett on west street not sure theyre still int area but deffo need a good kickin any rooad, an if tha finds any NCB waterproofs tied to a MTX 200 theyre mine, Bas****s
theirs been loads of stories about people getting their dogs pinched and ive heard what they get used for which is disgusting, if I found out that someone had nicked my parents dogs I would definitely do time for what I would do to them, id make sure they were resting 6 feet under
