Forest this season only passed my test this year so I haven't been to many really. It took chuffin ages to get there once in the city centre, I was desperate for a piss so I stopped off in this little industrial estate thing and when I'd finished I was about to turn this corner when a guy was reversing around it. I stopped and waited for him, but he never saw me and reversed straight into the front of me! Bearing in mind I'd stopped about 20 yards away from him and beeped the horn when it was obvious he didn't know I was there. So naturally I wasn't exactly happy. Then there was the performance.. And then we had to walk back amongst the thousands of Forest fans to the car park in which we were stood for 45 minutes at the back of the queue to get out. I just didn't enjoy the day that much. Oh and the couple of people sat behind me singing their own 'Scabs on fire' song, which was just terrible (doh)
Paul.d as plenty of experiences.... For me, last season away at Hull... went straight there from work, absolutely freezing, was on Sky, got played off the park, Frazier Campbell run rings round us and was sat next to my mate who's a Wednesday fan. On a plus point, ticket was a tenner and gained an extra away ticket stub. I think it was that game were Souza threw his glove at Brian Howard and they we're both having a girlie fight... Not 100% sure on that tho. All my away games last year ended with us losing and never actually saw us score.
RE: Paul.d as plenty of experiences.... i went to hull know what u mean but dont think it was the game souza n howard fell out? cant see souza taking his gloves off in that weather
Beautiful ground though, was next to retail park so had a nice Burger King before watching yet another horrific away performance from the reds... Will go this year and I wonder if the bookies will allow me to put a bet on us losing this early?
Derby away, Baseball Ground circa 1986/7 Can't remember exactly but it was the time when teams charged double for away fans so we went in the Derby end. We knew we wouldn't score so it wasn't going to be a problem. Then we scored, I went ape, got surrounded by about 30 Derby fans who kicked the **** out of me while my mate legged it. I remember looking up and seeing an old couple in their 60s just watch without batting an eyelid. I don't know who I was most angry at - my mate, the pensioners or myself for being so stupid - but eventually I got to my feet and ran round two sides of the pitch where I hid until full-time. That night we went out in Derby and my face was swollen like a melon. Roll on 20 years and I permanently have a face like a melon. Oh and I know, it was my own stupid fault, back then as it is now.
Forest this year was pretty bad, getting in and out was a nightmare and the game was awful. I will never drive to Forest again.
Shrewsbury away mid 80s We broke down at a place called Loggerheads and had to get a 20 mile taxi ride. Got there at half time, lost 1-0 and hitch hiked it home for midday the following day. On the Tuesday after we went to Sunderland in the Zenith/Full members/Simod/Pointless Cup. We were amongst some 25 reds fans that had bothered to travel up. Again we lost. This time on pens and yes we broke down again on the way home and had to be rescued. Happy days indeed!
RE: Derby away, Baseball Ground circa 1986/7 Blame Andy Saville- He scored - We were in the away end and some old bloke had been giving us some stick from the tier above. That was until his glasses fell into where we were sat and someone jumped all over them. Or are you talking about the boxing day game?? That was the only match I missed that season.
hard to narrow it down 7-0 at West Brom, 6-1 at Grimsby, 4-0 at Donnie, a few last minute long distance defeats (Crystal Palace 01 and Bristol C 03 spring to mind) but the worst probably has to be when we lost 2-1 at Walsall in 2002 - the day we knew we were going down
Forest away too. Mind you that is my only away game so far. Things can only get better. And we did have a laugh on the way home so it wasn't all bad.
RE: Warsaw away That was built up to be the decider and it was. Great goal by Bruce, man sent off, they still equaliser and then to round it off - 'He's got a Ford Cortina parked outside' Goodman bangs in the winner. After an hour of taking abuse from away fans. He never scored for us......
Swillsboro, Middlesboro, Oxford Utd Sheff Wed FA Cup tie, mid-80's; we had played them in the league a few weeks before. Leppings Lane end was disorganised chaos - my Uncle said "there'll be a bad accident 'ere one day"</p> Middlesboro FA Cup, Feb 1980, about 15000 of us crammed in like sardines, chaos outside ground and when we were penned in at the end so their fans could piss on us from a great height. Only thing to take your mind off the piss was dodging the bricks and bottles coming over the wall. I remember wondering why the Police used to think we were safer as away fans being kept in at the end - it was always bad.</p> Oxford Utd, 1985 ...... result was bad enough but was worried about my family at Bradford City.</p> Wembley last year were an anti-climatic day out too.</p>
