Worst would be a toughie between Trevor (Red card for nothing) Kettle and the infamous Gary (Red card for anything) Willard Best definitely Collina Most comical - the one who should have had an oscar for falling over after Di Canio pushed him
Thing is, you don't tend to notice the good refs, they just get on with things instead of trying to be the focus of attention. The list of bad ones is endless but my personal top 3 worst are Barry Knight, Mark Clattenberg and Gurnham Singh - in no particular order. And if there'e a funnier one than that prancing gay one I've yet to see him.
Worst - has to be Rennie Best - must be Collina Comical - the one who booked gazza for this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=anwgg--Ou-8
'Truth is, I thought it mattered. I thought that music mattered. But does it B*ll*cks? Not compared to how people matter.' I didn't know Cliff Richard was a Reds fan.
In the middle of this clip you will see quite possibly the worst decision ever made by a referee in the history of football ! Scottish referee Les Mottram not only misses Dundee United player Paddy Connelly score but then disregards the fact that the partick defender CATCHES THE BALL and hands it to his keeper and instead of giving a penalty waves play on ! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xKuLtLXl7FI
This one has got to be up there http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VJwAE5Mtrxc&mode=related&search=
(I think you'll need the equals on the end which the hyerlink doesn't seem to like)

and another http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2x0_22LFf9g&mode=related&search=
(again you'll need the equals in the hyper link)

Willard will always be part of Barnsley folklore. The Liverpool game had to be seen to be believed. I for one have never seen such inept and spineless refereeing in all my life. But I wonder if it's fair to say he's the worst referee ever, based on just two matches (SW away and Liverpool)? Mike Riley is an utter joke week-in, week out.
Does anyone remember Kelvin Morton? Bizarre little man with a bald head but long hair down his back and a ratty moustache, looked a bit like catweasel. Absolutely the most terrible, inconsistant ref I can remember. Sent off two Burnley players for minor offences when we very fortunately beat them in about 1994/5 (?). Was then involved in a very bizarre incident the season after against Norwich where he allowed an Andy Payton goal, the players were virtually ready to kick off again, and then he decided to disallow it for no apparent reason. Was always giving mysterious penalities and and red cards. I have a feeling he presides over the British record for awarding penalties in one match (five, Palace v Brighton Paul D?). Couldn't find a pic unfortunately.
Gurnham Singh..... ...excelled himself by allowing a Huddersfield goal against us directly from a throw-in live on Sky, and then compounded his error by attempting to justify it on telly by pointing out some "contact" from a defender on the replay, even though there was none, and our 'keeper just let the ball sail into the net over him. Was struck off the league list a year later, and played the "racist" card. Hmmm, how about the "incompetant, myopic Brummie" card?
Worst - I can't decide between Willard , McNally & Courtney ; Best - Collina ; Most comical - definitely Roger Kirkpatrick .
RE: Gurnham Singh..... When he played the racist card for not being promoted to the Premier League of refs I almost soiled myself. Ask any fan who's seen him ref and they wouldn't say that it was a racist decision, it was just the trivial little detail that you were absolutely ***** Gurnham! Clattenberg got on to my list after his last abomination with us (v Leeds -a game we won despite his best efforts) and replaced Lester Shapter in my top 3 worst refs.
Got to be Willard and Collina but my vote for the most comical goes to Maurice Fussey, years ago, for his sweeping curved runs back to the halfway line with the entire crowd cheering him on. Quality stuff.
