Larry May after about 2 minutes first game of season, straight red Carl Regan, also first game of season, straight red Mick McCarthy (I think) at Gillingham away, about 10 secs straight from kick off, straight red Graham Pugh, Pat Howard too many to mention
Steve Cooper Very high tackle from behind on John Jeffers of Port Vale. Jeffers had been a lovely person winding Coops up all game, but the tackle was to be fair nowhere near the ball. A straight red in the days when you had to do more than just fart to get sent off. Gerry Taggart produced a few corkers in his 5 red cards before the end of September season. Also remember Paul Futcher being skinned (a rarity I know) and then falling over and "accidentally" grabbing the ball in his hands to stop the striker going clean through. Didn't even get a booking! Futch was a legend!
Alan Little Forgot all about him now he really was a hardman Gwyn Thomas also springs to mind, but can;t remember any particular foul he did
RE: Steve Cooper If i remember correctly it was Dean Glover Coops kicked up in the air? Does anybody remember when he drop kicked Tony Agana in the head straight from the kick off at bumhole lane? Ref never saw a thing. Dean
Gwyn Thomas ..... or Captain Caveman as he was known, would win the thread "best tackler seen at Oakwell." He was rarely dirty but made sure he go man and ball in a big way.
Legend.

John Deehan at Bramall Lane... Forearm smash on a Sheff Utd player in the centre circle, from a kick off (not sure if it was right at the start or after a goal). Ref missed it, he got away with it. Obviously some "history" which he wanted sorting right from the start
RE: Steve Cooper That was also one of the worst displays of "football" seen at Oakwell by Barnsley.
Fans were get a bit dispondant so Coops decided a sending off might get us back on side.
Nice Work!

Kenny Burns and Norman Hunter both delivered a lot of retribution in their last playing seasons; fortunately for the Reds.
I always remember Hunter not having the pace to chase a lot of younger lads, so he just chopped em down.

RE: Steve Cooper Yeah It worked. Came back to draw 1-1. Top lad was Coops total nutter but gave everything for his club. Always remember his 2 goals against Ipswich at Oakwell. Two top class finishes. He is sadly missed Dean
RE: And THAT celebration I did have it somewhere but I've a feeling it got chucked when we moved? :'( Dean
Gordon Owen Once came on as a sub at Oakwell within minutes he did a flying head butt on an opposition player near the brewery stand, picked himself up and started walking off the pitch without even looking at the ref.....or did I imagine that??
The Macca one He pushed up the field from the kick off and twatted Tony Cascarino whilst we were attacking,Dont think either had touched the ball. Sorry if incorrect but was very very drunk at the time
