Speaking of misuse of statistics

did you see the story linking brest cancer to antiperspirant use- various places but an example below

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/03/ndeodorant103.xml

based on a sample size of 17 women all with the desease.

Nothing like a statisically significant experiment with a control group

In case any worried Women read this numerous large scale studies with thousands of women split into groups using and not using underarm deoderants has shown no link whatsoever

    hang on a minute!

I haven't "misused" anything-simply made an observation without any comment-if I'd gone on to say "and so we're bound to be relegated" then I'd agree with you:)

    or...

the fact that most of the seasons since spackman have started in a lower division. so if you want to just consider the league position after 4 games then it's the second best start since spackman. you can do what you want with statistics!

old nigel eh? that time as a barnsley fan came screaming back to me there! I'll never forget being in the upper tier at bradford witnessing that 4-0 defeat, thank you nigel spackman for that nightmare. As for worst start, seasons 4 games old theres alot more to come from the side (hopefully) and seeing how we played for an hour against plymouth don't see why we cant cause other teams in the division similar problems.

might be best to look at the fixtures of them games though, we have played 2 of the best in the league in the 4 games.

Why are people reading so much into this start? I have full faith in Davey's ability. I don't back every decision he makes - especially being too negative against the bigger sides and lacking imagination. But for me Davey has tried to address the problems of recent seasons. For that alone, I fully back him.

As regards a poor run of results, once upon a time a league table was not seen until 5 / 6 games into the season. Even then, it's still far too early to base a strong opinion.
