Mine as to be Grimsby Away 2003/2004 season - Lost 6-1

Or could be West Ham Away in the premier League - Lost 6-0

Bromsgrove 1-2 Barnsley. We beat them with two late goals, but a non-league side out footballed us for almost the entire 90 minutes.

A 7-0 drubbing away at West Brown in November '89 wasn't a particularly good performance either.

Wednesday at home when we lost 3-0 was pretty bad.

Colchester at home when they beat us 3-0 aswell in the same season was also very grim.

Bromsgrove was appalling. Grimsby away 1-6, Charlton last season 6-0 too many to choose.

The public house "The Mount" relies heavily on inept Barnsley performances, as this usually means fans leave early for a pint or two. How bad the performance is, is directly proportional to how many drinkers they have in at 16-15.

    Ones I've been to.

5-1 at Brighton last season was 'orrible.

Went to Watford the season we got relegated. Lost 3 or 4 nil and I can't remember us having a shot. ( that sounds familiar over the past few seasons)

Charlton at home last season. Can't comment on the last half hour. I was back in Walkabout at 16:20.

21st December 1971 Rhyl 2 Barnsley 0 at Old Trafford. That in itself was bad enough but was worsened by the fact it was a second replay, meaning that we had three goes at the buggers and couldn't beat em!

I wouldn't put the Charlton game down as a particularly bad performance. The result was awful, but I thought it was a somewhat of a freak. Everything that could go wrong for us did, while every Charlton attack resulted in a goal. We had two players sent off, Foster got injured with 20 minutes to go and never played for us again, but we'd used our subs so he had to stand up front playing with his thumbs, Hassell and Wiseman were basically playing on one leg for the last 15 minutes, so we finished the game with just 6 fit players on the pitch. However, we actually had more efforts at goal than Charlton.

I've seen us play worse than that Charlton game and pox a win.

The 7-1 thrashing of Huddersfield at home or Birmingham's no-show away in the play-off semis, were probably the two worst performances ever witnessed by a Barnsley team.

Defeat to Morecambe in the cup a couple of years ago was terrible.

Marine 3 Barnsley 1, FA Cup 1st Round November 1975. We were bottom of the entire league at the time, too.

The Colchester game is the earliest I have ever left a game, so it gets my vote.

    Great minds, JLWBigLil.

We must have been reminiscing over the Marine game at the same time!

Coventry away, early 2008. Think we lost 4-0. The players spent most of the game arguing amongst themselves. Jamal Campbell Ryce picked up an injury early doors and was limping for about half an hour before he was taken off. Brian Howard and Dennis Souza in particular had a stinker. Ironically our next away game was at Anfield.

Either that or a gutless display up at Sunderland a couple of years previous. We lost 2-0 but both teams were incredibly poor.
